Today when I woke up I turned on ESPN and listened to them say that Bonds may not be a Giant anymore. Bonds may retire or go to an AL team to be a DH and make his lead even bigger what do you have to say about this. The Yanks could sure use him as there big slugger when A-Rod leaves.

i am a die-hard giant fan, and I love Barry, but I want the best for him, and the best thing for him to do is DH in the American league. If he can't find a team (ie. Yankees) where he has the chance to win a quick championship, he should go to the A's so he's not too far from home (and you know Beane would love to have him for a season or two)

A-Rod is coming back next year, nobody else will give him enough money unless Cuban buys the Cubs which will never happen. Bonds doesn't fit. He`s a LF'er and a DH. We already have Matsui, Damon, and Giambi rotating around there. My guess is that he goes to Oakland if the Giants don't want him but I bet he`ll go back to the Giants.

My other guess is that he'll DH in Oakland.

I keep hearing that he wants to win a championship more than he wanted the HR record yet he stayed with a team that was going nowhere that would allow him to play when he wanted so he could get as many at bats as possible to break the HR record.

Who knows what he wants now. Does he really want to win or does he want to continue to get at bats so he can get 3,000 hits? Even though he's within 100 hits, he knows his career could end at any time due to injury. Plus I don't know what the Giants want now that the excitement of the HR chase is finished. They may want to keep him around so he can continue to chase 3,000 hits.

If he wants to win, he'll move on. But I think he wouldn't mind staying with the Giants for one more season then hanging it up after next season. I think he's smart enough to realize even if he leaves SF to go to a contender, the chances he'll pick the right team & win are probably slim.

The man is a fighter, no doubt about it. He may stay with the giants, but the Giants need to take a stand. The giants have already started to go young and Bonds is still productive, but there is no way they can win it in the next few seasons (unless Sabean goes on another redic spending spree to give them a punchers chance but sacrifices the club's performance for years to come) No one in the league wants to win a WS more than Bonds. The quesiton is whether he'll be overly loyal and try to stay with the giants or go and try to win one. Personally, I want to see him win one. He isn't gonna do it with my team, and he deserves it...it would be the perfect ending to the perfect career if he wins it all (even if it isn't in a G's uniform)

No way the A's are picking up Bonds at his current salary. The salary is the rub no matter where you look. Nobody is going to feel like they need to pony up a $20M farewell gift.

well...as long as he has a year like this year...he's worth it...if the A's have the cash, they'll do it...no doubt about it

If he said that, that's total contradiction.

How about a DH for the Angels? They need a DH and they are in a pennant race.

i've lived in the bay my entire life and there is no one who wanted to win a championship more than Bonds...explain how this is a contradiction

No one? What's the criteria of "wanting it more"?

No one? What's the criteria of "wanting it more"?

you must be unfamiliar with American English vernacular...let me explain...when someone says, "no one wanted it more than ___" what they mean is "he wanted it a lot"

Do you think he cares about other milestones? Plaing one more year can get him pretty close to some other historic marks

He's 33 runs away from Cobb and 82 away from Rickey for #1 all-time. one more year like this one, and he has a very good shot at passing them both
84 more hits to 3,000
17 more RBI's to 2,000, and #4 all-time
not to mention trying to put distance between him and the next guy to come along in the homereun chase. The interesting thing is that is is on pace to hit 10 more home runs this year (for a total of 33). If he does that and has 33 next year as well, he'll be at exactly 800. I think that is a stretch, though

A-Rod will be playing for the Angels next year

Fixed that for ya...
Bonds will likely be somebody's DH next year. The Giants need to almost completely deconstruct their current roster and start over...

Not sure now Craig Biggio said he'll end his carrear this season so maybe bonds will too. Last I heard he had 757.
