I cannot seem to find who the player is in this particular photo that the arrow is pointing to. Can anyone help me on this?

Bill Mazeroski

I always thought it was Murtaugh, but he's #40.

Oh sorry - didn't see you were asking about the guy with the arrow pointing at his head.

No...Mazeroski is the player that is coming to the plate.

Murtaugh is #40; Bob Skinner is #4, Gene Baker is #16, and Mickey Vernon is #42. I have Skinner and Vernon's autograph on that pic already. I will have to wait for a show to get Mazeroski but I am trying to determine who that player is.

If you go to a show - ask Maz!

Maybe it's Dick Schofield who was probably on deck. The next scheduled was Harvey Haddix, but I doubt if he would have batted in that situation.

With that hair cut could be Virdon or Vern Law.

I'd have to second this. Looking back at photos and cards of Schofield, his hair was always that "spiked/close cropped" kind of way.

But Schofield was only 5'9", this guy looks bigger than that.

I think Virdon is a possiblity also. He was in the hole during Mazeroski's AB.

Why wouldn't he be? Who would bat for him and go out to CF?

According to this picture it looks like it's #12 which would be Don Hoak

I was at Barnes & Noble tonight and I was looking through some books about World Series games. I saw several pictures taken from different angles of this same scene. In one of the pics, Don Hoak is coming from the dugout and the haircut is the very same. I believe that it is Don Hoak. If so, he passed away in 1969 so therefore I just need Maz.
