Ok, Mike Mussina has 246 wins and is 38 years old. Do you think he'll make it to 300 wins? He's having a poor 2007 season by his standards. So I think he needs at least three seasons after this one to have a chance.

I checked and Tom Glavine had 262 wins through his age 38 season. If Mussina gets 13 wins this season that puts him at 252. Mussina has some work to do get to 300 wins.

I doubt that he will get to 300.
I don't see him playing past his current contract.

I don't see him making it unless he can bamboozle the Yanks into signing him for another 4 year and even then I'd bet against him. Had a fine career though.

Hey, bamboozling the Yankees for big money seems to be quite easy these days. :laugh

if he gets to 4 more wins this year he has 250 so that means he has to average 12.5 wins per year if he plays for four more end at 42 he would get to 300. With everyone playing to like 43 it is possibly and he plays to 43 like wells, moyer, johnson, and clemens he would need 10 wins a season. It is possible he could do it.

wow, pretty overwhelming results so far.
I think the problem will be finding someone to give him a chance for 4-5 more years. His ERA has been declining pretty steadily (last year's 3.51 aside) and he is below league average this year.
If he stays with the Yankees, he'll have a chance with all the offensive support. If he signs elsewhere, he's going to have trouble.
He has a chance, but too much is against him to reasonably expect it

interesting question...its certainly possible, but not very probable.

You have to want to play that long, and likely you have to play on a team that's going to get you bunches of runs (at least in the AL) so you could rack up an average of 15 wins per season or more.
I wonder if he would have a better shot at 300 if he moved to the NL?

You're not wrong :(
However to answer the question at hand if he goes to an NL team with a great defense, that scores alot of runs, and plays in a big park he has a chance.

Any what NL team fits this description?

It could happen, but I wouldnt bet on it. He just hasnt been strong enough these days for a good team (which he would need at this point of his career) to sign him for 4 more years.
Maybe, but i doubt it.
