The guy who caught it still has it an is not sure what he is going to do with it yet. It got me thinking. What would I do with it? The Yankees offered him some autographs and memoribilla but I can tell you right now I could careless about that kind of stuff.

I'd either ask for season tickets for a X amount of years or a certain amount of cash.

So what would you ask for in terms of how much money or other ways of paying you?

Would 1 million be too much considering he is making 252 million (before taxes) in his contract? 1 million is probably too much for a 500 hr ball. But I'm not sure I'd settle for less than 100 grand.

Honestly, I would sell the ball for the highest price offered. I would hold on to it long enough to get professional help in selling the ball. If Mr. Rodriguez wanted to buy it, he certainly has the money to put in the highest bid. I would donate a portion of the proceeds to charity. I'm not a fan of A-ROD so I would have no interest in keeping the ball or making a trade with him. However, if I caught a milestone home run ball from my favorite player Chipper Jones, I would offer the ball to him for some type of trade for other memorabilia. If he didn't want it, then I would keep the ball.

It's his accomplishment, I'd let him have it.

It's his accomplishment, I'd let him have it.So you have the chance to sell said ball for lets say at least $50,000. And you're telling me that you're gonna give it away?

His accomplishent, your ball. You might see it a little differently if you were faced with this choice. :laugh

I highly doubt it's worth anywhere near 100 grand. I'd sell it if it was worth a car unless I really liked A-Rod.

I'd give it back to him. I would much rather say I got to meet him and have a photo taken with him than being greedy over some baseball.

I'd give it to him and ask him if he can go back to the Mariners now. :sigh:

If I got it, I would trade it to him for an autographed baseball. It means more to him than it does to me.

I would keep it... I would just say, "I plan to keep it. I'd love if he could autograph the ball for me, but I have no plans to give it to the team or to sell it."

Then (because this "it's not for sale" front is up) I'd sell it to the highest bidder a few weeks after I snagged it. Once the rich memorabilia collectors start demanding its sale with ridiculous numbers, I'd accept the cash, and give some to charity - the rest goes to my bills. :-)

Of course, someone would say "You said you didn't plan to sell it? What changed?"

My reply would be:

--A-- "Well I didn't. I planned to keep it until I was an old, old man. But, I thought about it and decided it deserved a better fate than on top of my TV in a ten dollar ball holder."

Or,

--B-- "Well, nobody knows better about how 'money talks' than A-Rod, right? Sometimes an offer comes in that you just can't refuse."

Wouldn't even give it a second thought. If I caught it, I would sell it.

I don't think anybody could call you greedy considering most people view baseball players as greedy. And A-Rod would be the last person to judge you as greedy considering he is making a quarter billion in his contract.

Frankly, I can't see Arod giving a rat's patoot what the fan does with the ball. Be nice to have it on the mantle but so what?

Personally, if I had it would depend on how much it was worth. I don't know why thay ball would command an exorbitant amount, but if it did I would sell it. Otherwise I keep it until I go tired of taking care of it. The I would give it to the HoF.

Honestly, I wouldn't even give it to the HOF unless I was able to attain something in return. As a fan we are charged high prices for food, drinks (even water), very high for seats etc. I know this is the owners and board memebres decisions to charge these prices but as a whole they are all apart of major league baseball. So I would go play ball with it before I gave it away for free. Fans are price gouged all the time so maybe it's time a fan gets something in return.

I would ask for a game used autographed ball and then a bat and have him sign that.

Perfect, I agree 100%. Afterall, A-Rod is greedy himself... He basically went to the Rangers for the money, not for the chance to win. He went to the highest bidder at the time. So should the ball.

For the giving back the ball.....

I think I'd ask for season tickets in the MVP Loge section for 2008-2010.

On PTI the other day they said that he should offer season tickets for as long as he plays 4 rows above the home dugout. If they offered me that I'd be happier than a pig in...well you know. Then again I'd talk to him and only him...I'm a Yankee fan and if I can't work something out with him I don't want some tool to have it.

I'd be happy with that. You could sell those tickets half the time and make some money as well :)
