I have a few days off next week and I am considering going one of those days down to the visiting team hotel in the area and seeing what the deal is. If it is a night game (like 7pm) ... what time do the players usually leave? 3pm? I'm not interested in running around the hotel harassing the players, but maybe catching a few on the way out. Anyone here have tried their luck at it?
I understand the hotel is their private space (hence why I'm not interested in going INTO the hotel), but I'm not really interested in going to the games, so I thought I would give it a shot.
If anyone has an info from experience, let me know.

I know that sometimes you can get autos at team hotels. Some friends of mine have had success in Raleigh, NC with visiting hockey teams.
Some hotels are so anal that even guests in the hotel are forbidden to ask for autographs.
Last December, my wife's then-boss was throwing a massive Xmas party at the hotel where visiting teams for the Devil Rays (and in this case the Buccaneers) stay. The Falcons were in town to play the Bucs and evidently the hotel management sent notices to all functions that getting autographs was forbidden by hotel policy...it looked like they even had house dicks in the hallways watching, since a lot of the Falcons were out and about.
What sucked was that as a NE Patriot fan, I saw former Pat Lawyer Milloy floating around. I just wanted to go up and say "Hi" but I didn't dare...

I used to go to the visiting team's hotel in Seattle and had good success. I was able to get Wade Boggs and Daryl Strawberry that way. From what I understand now is that the visitors stay at the W hotel in Seattle and will sign out front when they are catching cabs. You have to be quick and patient.

I think most teams stay at the Westins Hotels. From what I understand you'll never get in these hotels unless your a guest. Have a little patience and hang outside. I think before a game is the best time. While waiting for a cab and or the team bus

I checked out the hotel situation today here in Philly and it was pretty lame. There were a whopping 7 people there. I only stayed for about 20-30 minutes and in that time, only 2 players came out (Dontrelle Willis and Miguel Cabrera). Willis snuck into a cab, and what was wild was 2 losers RAN to their car to follow his cab to the stadium. I thought the two guys were going to have a heart attack.
Cabrera came out and waited for a cab in front of the hotel. The group of seekers was 15 feet away from him, and you would think after saying his name once or twice, that they would know that he heard them. He just stood there like nothing was happening and the rest of the group continued to yell his name, beg please, even try to ask him in Spanish. I knew from his body language the moment he saw the SMALL GROUP (like I said it was 7 people) he wasn't going to sign. I walked away after about 20 seconds, and it was funny to watch these men groan and wait like magically he was going to come across the small walkway after they continued to say his name.
It left a bad taste in my mouth. The people waiting there just looked like a bunch of losers, moreso the adults. I could understand the kids. Like 3 of them were teenagers, it's the summer, what else is there to do in the middle of the day .. but the grown men were embarassing .. they almost reeked of being a dealer.
I definitely understand why players don't want to sign. It's uncomfortable the way these guys approach the players. And it was a SMALL crowd today. It would have taken 30-60 seconds total to sign one autograph for each person ... so it's not an issue of time.

Hi everyone,
I just discovered these boards and have a question for you. My wife and I are traveling to Anaheim next week for the Yankees/Angels series. We are huge Yankee fans and would love to try and grab a few autographs at the team hotel. Does anyone know which hotel they stay in? Thank you very much. - Ken

What hotels do they stay at for the White Sox and Cubs?

Whatever hotel they're at, check the hote;l's policy. Like I said above, some hotels even have rules forbidding guests in the hotel for asking players.

You have to be very careful when doing this. Legally speaking, if you go into a hotel and you are not a guest, you are trespassing. I know that the Embassy Suites in Cary, NC was having people arrested for autograph chasing. It gets really bad here for whatever reason.
Wasn't there some hotel that extended their "no trespassing" zone to 50-100 feet away from the entrance to deter autograph seekers?

i ve seen them on ebay but i m sure they have them at stadiums and stuff. What you do is buy your home teams media guide and it will list where the plaers on opposing teams stay
