The Tigers tried for him at the trade deadline, but they could not get him. There are rumors that he will still be dealt to the Tigers for Brent Clevlen and Jair Jurrjens. What do you think of this deal? I don't know much about this Jair guy, but I know about Clevlen. He is a good, young player, but we have a surplus of outfielders. This makes sense for the Tigers if they can pull it off.

Jair Jurrjens seems like a great young prospect, but Clevlen isn't meeting expectations. He's been batting below the mendoza line, so I don't know why the Pirates would show any interest in a Double-A OF who can't make contact. I hope they go for a more experienced hitter who can help the club next season.

That would be kind of a bummer....to my thinking anyway. Cleven I could take or leave, he's a real streaky player that could be a Carlos Pena type that in 4-5 years of him going he puts it together and we go where was that while he was in our organization? But 4-5 YEARS....get something for him if we can.

Jair is somone I have been curious to get his shot for the last couple years. Give him a shot up with the bigs before you send him off? Those in the know say the say is a pretty solid starter that gets the ball over the plate. The one thing they say holds him back is the lack of a MLB out pitch. Heck, if thats it, hasn't Greg Maddux made a living not having MLB out pitches? Like real estate it's all LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION?

In the Detroit Tiger batting lineup, I think Jack Wilson would return somewhere near his 2004 form where he had 201 hits. I think he is one of the best defensive SS in MLB at this time. Even if he doesn't it, the Tigers have enough hitting. I think getting him now is a near emergency because the defense is so horrendous. Carlos Guillen is not always MLB calibur anymore. Probably all those near career ending knee injuries. I was reminded this when I saw a Padres game last night where Kalil Green played SS so effortlessly. The minor drawback is that Wilson willl be 30 in December.

I don't know about Prospects. Pittsburgh doesn't have a history of getting it right all the time and DD does. Will Brent Clevlan ever play in Detroit? He was brought up last year from a level lower than AAA and did OK then was sent down to play full-time. I can't say anything about the other player except that he's a prospect/suspect.

That's exactly why I would like to see him?.....Jair has 150+ IP and 30 W that's sick at any lvl.

Check out the same rumor thread on the Pirates. Keep in mind this was posted yesterday...

"Tigers' Triple-A RHP Humberto Sanchez or RHP Jordan Tata will probably be one of the prospects."

Humberto Sanchez??? :crazy :crazy :crazy

Well, if the Yankees want to do a 3 team deal where they would get nothing, and we trade Tata (Sanchez from Yanks) for Wilson, I would do that?

"Well, if the Yankees want to do a 3 team deal where they would get nothing"

Hmm...

Brian Cashman: "Yeah, is this Dave?"

Dave Dombrowski: "What is it, Brian?"

BC: "Yeah, it's about Humberto..."

DD: "Sanchez, yeah, I know. I was expecting this call all year."

BC: "You were?"

DD: "Yeah. You seriously thought he would be at all durable?"

BC: "Well, you see, we in the Yankees organization pride ourselves in..."

DD: "Forget it, you want to give him back?"

BC: "Yeah."

DD: "Nope, you're stuck with him."

BC: "Oh, come on!"

DD: "Well, okay. I'm feeling generous today, so just trade him to Pittsburgh in a three-way deal."

BC: "What do I get?"

DD: "Diddly-squat. We trade Jordan Tata to Pittsburgh for Jack Wilson. You just pitch in Sanchez, and he isn't your porblem anymore."

BC: "Wow, thanks! Lemme think about that one!"

Not that they're the be-all, end-all of iron clad information, but the latest ESPN.com power rankings suggested Pittsburgh "prying" away slugger Craig Monroe for Jack Wilson. I'd do it, even if I had to throw in a AA middle reliever like we did for Sean Casey last year.

Or maybe give back Chris Shelton :laugh

Craig Monroe for Wilson straight up would be a great trade.
