At this rate, Grady is gonna burn him out by mid August. He won't have nothing left down the stretch and in the playoffs, when we need him most. It's not like Lieberthal is an automatic out. There is no excuse for Martin catching 16, 17 inning games like he's done this year. I know he's our MVP, and we're not as good w/o him in the lineup, but what's the use if he's gonna hit .250 in September? We won't make the playoffs if that happens. The Padres aren't going anywhere, even if Young is out a long time. And we better not count on the wild card.

I agree that Grady should give Martin some time off. No matter what Rus says, Grady should rest him once in a while. Lieberthal is not an automatic out, last time he started, I believe he went 4 for 4 but we did lose that day so it went unnoticed.
