I read today that Johnson is about to throw in the towel on the season, and that his future is looking cloudy. Who else saw this coming? It's too bad the D-Backs felt compelled to trade for a 43 year old, broken down pitcher. But man, when he was younger, it was lights out.

A really dumb move on the D'Backs part. If Johnson can do it he will try to comback to reach the 300 win plateau.

Sixteen more wins could be a mountain of a goal at this poing for Johnson.

I think Johnson might be able to come back as a reliever. He's still got the heat; he could probably be a productive reliever, especially if stamina is the issue. Of course, Unit may be fixated on 300 wins and this idea may not fit in with his personal goals, but he could have a second career as a reliever. He doesn't need to add to his career to make the HOF, but if he wants to go on, this might be the way to go for him.

Relievers get wins, by the way. This may be the way Johnson gets to 300; it may actually be a better bet.

Such a bummer. He's going to have more surgery on his back and says he wants to come back, but who knows. :noidea :sigh:

I believe the thinking of the Dbacks in trading for Johnson was that they had a shot at the NL west and he could help.

maybe the yanks want to recycle him, the way they did with clemens.

He is done. Too old, they never should have brought him back. Great in his prime when I saw him win three games vs. Yanks in 2001 Series, but give me youth anyday!

I think too that he is done.

I am glad that I had the possibility to see him pitch, back in 2005.

Unfortunately, my Dbacks are down 0-3. However, I remember the 2004 Red Sox.....................

Well, has anyone else heard anything about Randy? I imagine he has lots of thinking to do this off season.

The Dbacks are on the hook for a big chunk of his salary. I am sure he will be back if his medical problems allow it, but I would try to trade him, he is done, damaged goods.

Josh Byrnes excpects Johnson to be in spring training this year but we still dont know how he will perform pitching with full exertion.

I really hope he does come back. He looked like he was in his prime again his last 5 starts when he posted a 4-0 record, 1.52 ERA, and 42 K's in 29 IP. He wont be getting 300 wins though, sad for someone with such a great resume but we all know the age of 20 game winners and 300 game career winners are pretty much coming to an end.

He did look good in the few games he pitched. I hope he can come back. Winning 16 games may be tough for him, but I think it's still possible if he's healthy. But I'm hoping he is and I'd really love to see him reach 300.

Oh that would be awesome if he could reach 300 in a backs uniform for 2 reasons...

1. He reached a historic milestone in our uniform. This should almost get him in the hall of fame with our uniform on his plaque.

2. He pitched well enough to earn 16 wins in the first place.

I think if the Unit can come back healthy and give us a 3.80-3.65 ERA effort this team will be dangerous. As long as we get what we got from Davis this year and from Micah, too, then we will have an awesome pitching staff. It depends on who Byrnes goes after this off-season at SP that can really make this a great starting 5.

If the young bats dont develop a bit this season than it will take the unit at least a 3.20-3.00 ERA effort to get 16 wins though.

Who else saw this coming?

Hmmm, I play Fantasy Baseball. I've haven't pick him in 3 Years for I did know it was coming and I'm amazed he has lasted as long as he has.
