I saw a thread in the Washington Senator's forum asking whether the current Nats should honor older Nat franchises such as 1924 WS and 1925 AL Champs.

I was wondering, should the Comerica Park honor with penants, plaques, and statues from the old Detroit Wolves 1887 Championship teams and the Detroit Stars (I don't know if they ever won a title)? They both had HOF players, some such as Turkey Stearns and Hank Thomson are on my all-time Detroit team.

The park already has a little display of the Stars, and if I am not mistaken the Wolverines are at least a mention on one of the other displays.

Now if you mean actually putting up their championships with the Tigers ones? No they do not.....nor should they IMO.

I think it's a great idea to honor a city's older franchises with plaques or other displays, but don't think it would be right to display pennants of earlier teams with the new one unless they played in the same park.

Statues wouldn't be a bad idea, honoring guys like Stearnes and Thompson and Dan Brouthers, who meant a lot to Detroit baseball. That's why Willie Horton has his statue. But to place championship banners for the teams in Comerica is akin to laying claim to those titles. Let the people read about those teams as they walk through Comerica like they can about the Tigers throughout the years.
