This kid is so amazing it's unbelievable. Not only does he lead all rookies in rbi's and runs scored at the current time it is his defense that makes you a Tulo fan.

Tonight alone he has saved the Rockies 2 outs with that gun of his. He threw out the speedy Rickie Weeks from deep in the hole on a backhand stab and just threw out another runner when a hopper went over Garrett Atkins at 3rd and Tulo still gunned him out.

The 2rHR he hit was just icing on the cake tonight.

I watched the series that he played in against the jays and this guy seems like a solid baseball player. Has alot of pop and good deffensivly. I think he is one of those guys that you really start to stand out in a year or 2 and not go through the infamous sophmore slump.

Glad you were impressed with the kid. That Jays series was the start of a very, very bad 1-9 road trip for the Rockies.

I hear he's fighting a nasty case of food poisoning right now, which is why he missed the last couple games. He was quoted as saying "I've never threw up more in my life."

Here's to a speedy recovery!

Yeah we need him. Carroll has been nowhere near the level Tulo has been at short

Troy Tulowitzki had a remarkable SS assist total of 561 this season. That's 10th on the all-time season list. Is that a rookie record? Ivan DeJesus had 595 assists n 1977 but, I can't tell if he qualified as a rookie. Ozzie Smith had 548 his rookie season in 1978.

I don't know if it's a rookie record or not but with the 823 PO+A and leading the league in DP's if he doesn't get the ROY Award it just would show that writers don't think much of the value of the SS position.

The writers know very little about real baseball. Just what they know about fantasy league numbers which rarely give credit for defense. Tulowitzki is the Rookie of the Year regardless if he wins the award. Even if Ryan Braun hit 50 HR and had 140 RBI, I still take Troy for his overall play. Braun is a DH filling 3B at this time. The only area they both need to improve upon is their SO. They could be so much better if they SO less.

I agree with you 100%. To Troy's credit, he did cut down on his K's by a large margin from the first few months to now. Had he kept up the pace he was on, he'd have Ryan Howard's record. I am looking for and expect to see great things from Tulo here on out. He should be an all-star next year barring any sophomore slump.

Tulo's assists this year is a rookie record. I was glad I got to see him and Helton (basically my favorite non-Cubs player) when they came to Wrigley to play the Cubbies (although that was when they had that bad road trip i believe).

Bargain deal for the Rockies, until he's a free agent.
