I need some help getting out of this funk I'm in right now. I don't have any video so I'll do my best to describe it.

Somewhere in the past few weeks, my swing turned into an all-arm swing. We're talking casting, pulling off, you name it, I'm probably doing it. There was also a ton of "bat wrap", that I fixed, but there are still many things wrong with it. I'm having trouble going the other way, which is a problem since I get pitched around alot, and going to right-center is my bread and butter.

I'm trying to find some drills to get back just using my hips and hands, but not having alot of luck. I've got some stuff by Epstein (which is alright stuff, but not great), and of course Teddy's Science of Hitting, but not alot of drills.

Any help?

Sounds like a case of serious disconnection. Check out Englishbey's public side or Siggy's site.

I have my players form the box and practice swinging with the box while staying connected for as long as possibe. I position a hitting stick up and back to a point where they can swing and stay totally connected. I then move the stick to a position where a good connected rotational swing should work. It usually helps.

This worked for my son doing the same thing. I don't know if these are is a normal drill.

He worked on loading better - High knee drill both ways. Like when you turn on the ball you try to knee the pitcher or someone standing in front of the plate on a dry swings. Do this with front and rear knees going in opposite directions.

He worked on hitting the inside of the ball, t-work standing in front of a net, have someone stand behind you to see if you are wrapping the bat/arm baring and not keeping your rear elbow in on pitches over middle of plate. There are better people than I to describe what happens with rear elbow and where it belongs when and where. Look at some clips and you will see what happens to elbow when pitches are on inside middle and outside of plate.

I think, and probably others do here too, that its not good policy to make swing decisions with your kid based on internet viewing of one swing by people you dont even know. Thats no insult to anyone, its just common sense. Yes, there are people here who know what they are talking about but people to post poor video of swings.

My kids pro keeps me in the Loop of everything hes having my son doing with his swing. In fact he depends on my to tell him whats going on with it, both in practice when the Pro is pitching, and during game times and hitting sessions with me.

Get your boy to a pro hitting clinic and get involved with his swing. Posting one fast motion video, obviously that's not how he swings, aint going to cut it. It looks to me like hes not loading at all.

Serious would be a good way to desribe it. It's gotten a little better, but still a ways to go.

Thanks for the help
