ok so im 18 years old and i am a catcher. i have never had arm problems in the past, but this year... i have have. it started around the begining of season. i could still throw pretty well with this miner pain and was effective. HOWEVER, 3 days ago i was doing some throwing in the morning. when i got home, my elbow started to really hurt, and hurt up till game time that day.

the pain was so bad i could not throw. the next morning i woke up with the pain still there, and all day. i have 4 days off, today is my second day of the 4. i have iced ALOT over these days, and have not thrown, only hit.

the pain is still here, and it hurts when i completely straighten my arm. it feels as if the pain is in my elbow BONE or just slightly on the inside. also, if i hold my arm 90 degrees with my hand and forum facing up, and bring my hand to my shoulder (like a bicep curl), and quickly jerk my arm back to 90 degrees, i get a fairly loud pop that seems like its coming from the inner half of elbow.

im really worried, and i cant take time away from games since our season is nearing post season. i can take some time off after season before i do some showcases.

does anyone have ANY idea of what could be wrong, or what i should do?

also, keep in mind my elbow pain went from minor and bearable, to very painful and can not throw at all really within a couple hours

I think, you shouldn´t have hit too. On your place, I would ask the doc since arms are pretty important for baseball :). Good luck ;)

Get yourself to an orthopedist that specializes in sports medicine. Try to get to the best available.

Gen,
Listening to any advise here on what to do medically would be irresponsible. You need to see a doctor. It could be one of a hundred different things, some of which can be serious.

I doubt anyone here is a doctor so the advice will be limited. Rest your arm for a few days. Take a pain killer like Tylenol. It's OK to take four at a time. If the pain persists go see a sports medicine specialist. A regular doctor will just tell you to rest (you already know that) or send you to a specialist.

So far the only advice offered has been "SEE A DOCTOR."

Whoops, I spoke too soon.

Not to beat a dead horse, but you need to see a doctor.

R.I.C.E. might not be enough. Getting it checked out is the best thing you can do right now. Don't ask me how I know.
