Jim Whitney, Mike Hines, Charlies Buffinton, and Jack Burdock are the only players in ML history to do this.

Sometimes your anagrams just jump out at me...this one is "ONE TWO THREE FOUR", and the players' stats are consistent with them at some point batting 1st-2nd-3rd-4th in the order while playing P-C-1B-2B, or 1-2-3-4 in the scorebook. Most likely for the 1883 Boston Beaneaters if I get my guess.

You have a glimmer of where we are going gere. Remember it must be unique. The 1883 Beaneaters is correct, but not terribly integral to the answer.

Hmmm, I'd have thought batting in positional order was unique given so few pitchers have led off. Nothing to back it up with, but I'll guess they hit consecutive single-double-triple-homer...that doesn't strike me as unique by itself, so perhaps they did it leading off a game, or batting in positional order, or both?

Not that I know of. You might want to cogitate on recent questions.

Yeesh, smack me upside the head next time. August 11th, 1883, 6th inning, runners on first and second, the Beaneaters turned the only 1-2-3-4 triple play to date, against the Providence Grays. d'oh!

Well Done, Mikie.
