He is now the third player to do this in 2007.

Congrats to Mr. Huff.
I've been a firm supporter of the greatness of the cycle for some time now, but I think I'd like to flip-flop. The cycle is a great game, but how great? It's kind of a flukey thing and doesn't really mean much (his team lost by the way). They're also becoming rather common.
I guess what I'm saying is a no-hitter is not only better (like I've always said) but much, much better.
Edit: No disrespect to you for bringing it up. It's still an important enough event that it should be mentioned and I'm glad you did.

Four extra-base hits is a bit better. :)

One of the last guys I'd expect it from. Mostly because this will probably be his last triple of the season.

And since the Orioles moved to Baltimore from St. Louis in 1954, it is actually the third cycle in team history.

I think its more difficult to hit for the cycle than it is to throw a no-hitter.

Why do you say that? I'm unsure how to compare hitting feats vs fielding.
Anyway, if you were a single away from the cycle, but you had an easy double, would you stop at 1B just to complete this? To me, if you could put yourself into scoring position, I'd take it.
I think that the cycle is great, but the triple may be the hardest. You've gotta have it go past the outfielder and it's gotta hit the wall and bounce around a bit out there. The HR, while not easy, could likely be the easy part relatively.
Now then, which would you rather have in a single game? Single, double, triple & HR? Two doubles, a HR and a single?
Oh yeah, how often is the natural cycle (in the order described in last paragraph) or the reverse cycle (opposite order) done?

Because hitting is much more difficult than pitching, and getting 4 hits in a big league game is very difficult much less getting a 1b,2b,3b and a HR.

Depends on the game situation, if we had the game in the bag, I'd trip and fall down and scamper back to 1st.;) If not, I'd go to second.

The Cycle because its so hard to get and so very rarely happens.

I think I've seen it once in 10yrs.

OK, boys & girls, it's "Pick HG's brain" time today! Yes, it's a national holiday, just like the 4th of July! :D ;) :p
OK, so you feel that hitting is more difficult than pitching. Why? Wouldn't a pitcher need to concentrate on going through the lineup several times, facing both lefties and righties, speed demons and big sluggers? I'd think that between the different hitting styles, someone would very likely get a hit. I'd think that going through a lineup (even a weak one), including pinch hitters, and especially if it's an AL team with a decent DH, it would be very difficult to do this for 9 innings.

Trip and fall down? Wouldn't there be a belly flop and a little weeble-wobbling back to 1B to make it a bit more "interesting"? :laugh Hey, a little comedic routine wouldn't hurt, would it?
The Cycle because its so hard to get and so very rarely happens.
I guess that's why I focus more on what the team does. Me, I'm like one of those people, if guy's trying for a hit title, but his team needs him to drop down a sacrifice bunt, I'd go for the bunt if I could do this well . If the team wins, I'd be happy. Hey, Barry hit #750 today, but the team still lost. Monumental moment but was it as much fun as if it were a win?

Pretty much what I've figured. A Perfecto doesn't happen often either (unless you count David Wells & David Cone in consecutive years ('98 & '99, respectively)).

Aubrey also got his 1,000th career hit in that game, so that's a career milestone too.

I'm an all-star at the major league level if I'm successful getting a hit 3 out of 10 times. If a pitcher was only successful 3 out of 10 times you know where that would get him.

Kevin Millar hit a triple just the night before. Who's next? Paul Bako?
