You guys are going to want to see this. This is a clip from Friday in Seattle before the first game in the completely sold out Reds-Mariners series. This was the first time Ken Griffey, Jr. has been back to Seattle to play baseball since 1999. :baseball:

I'm warning you though: be prepared to get a little misty-eyed. This is probably a more moving clip than Lou Gehrig's "luckiest man in the world" speech! :reporter:

I thought it was nice to see Griffey get some love during his return to Seattle.

He truly did put Seattle baseball on the map. I'm convinced that without him, the team would have moved. One of my favorite Griffey stories is when he was a rookie (or the year after) , he had a great spring training and Jim Lefebvre called him into his office and told him Seattle had just traded him to Atlanta for Dale Murphy. Junior was crushed, but guess what day it was?

April Fool's. ;)

I don't think I've ever heard that story before, that's pretty funny!

That was nice of the Mariners to do that. Most teams wouldn't have done it until after the player retired or was dead. Nice to see a beloved player get is due while he is still alive to enjoy it.

Definitely a great tribute (but to be honest, not nearly as moving as the Lou Gehrig tribute).

Imagine what it'll be like when he throws that #24 jersey back on, and takes the field for the Mariners once again... my, oh, my...

Griffey should definitely finish his career in Seattle.

First off,not nearly as touching or emotional as Gehrig, sorry. But it certainly had a touch of nostailga(hope I spelled that right)and it was well deserved. It basically confirmed what most of us already knew, that Ken Griffey Jr.'s baseball home is Seattle and he should have stayed there. But perhaps he will come back to finish his career with the Mariners. I would love to see it happen.
