Who do you think will start the All-Star game for both leagues?

Starters:
Peavy and Beckett. I don't think Beckett should start but a while ago Leyland suggested he'd start Beckett. It should be Haren. All I know is Verlander had better be on that roster...

I'm not sure who will be picked but I'd go with:
AL Daniel Haren
NL Jacob Peavy(maybe Penny/Young, I don't pay much attention to the NL).

Beckett for the AL, and Peavy for the NL as of today.

I would say Verlander for AL and Peavy for NL.

I would say Verlander for AL and Peavy for NL.
I said Haren and Peavy all along until today. The latest AS voting results have been released and Ordonez is now in the top 3. Polanco and Rodriguez all have comfortable leads so it's highly likely that all 3 of them will start. Jim Leyland picks the squad (or at least helps, and he sets the lineup) so why not have 4 Tigers start? I'd have to look it up but I bet that hasn't happened many times.
One thing worries me about Verlander, though. JL prefers veterans and he really seems to like Bonderman. He's referred to him as one of his aces and he usually refers to Verlander as a kid or young pitcher (even though Bonderman and Verlander are about the same age) so I wouldn't be shocked if Bonderman and not Verlander made the team. That would be a real shame because Bonderman is not better than Verlander. If Bonderman would have 1 yesterday his CYP (or whatever it's called on espn.com) would have had him amongst the 10 best pitchers in the AL (thanks to a would-be 9-0 record) so you could've argued for him but now I just don't see it.
Go Verlander!

I'd like to see Penny again. He put on a show last season in the All star game. Bring it on again.

Penny and Haren. But Jeremy Guthrie should get a couple innings.

At the moment, Guthrie and Roberts would make the AS game for the O's, no?
I'll go with Haren and Penny myself.

Todd Jones probably won't be closing the game for the AL.

I'd say Beckett and Peavy. Although any of the guys that have been mentioned before now would also be excellent choices, ignoring Jeremy Guthrie as a candidate to start although he should probably make the roster.

The showdown will be this Saturday--Peavy (9-2 2.14) vs Penny (10-1 2.04)! :hyper:

Haren floors Beckett in every statistical category minus the arbitrary "Wins" stat (getting 9 runs a game helps). Haren is clearly the best SP in the AL.
If its not Haren V Peavy I will be steamed...

I'm a fan of neither team, but I'm looking forward to this game....I'll be there. I've been saying Peavy all along, but Penny is quitetly (relatively speaking) having a great season. He doesn't have all the K's but everything else is right there.

This saturday may have a huge impact for the NL, Peavy is going up against Penny. Im gonna be going to that game in LA(first ever game in a non san diego or arizona stadium) decked out in pads gear, it should be fun.

Well Penny isn't a strikeout pitcher and never has been. He shouldn't be penalized for that.
