Let's rid ourselves of these guys, pretty please:
Mike Bacsik, Levale Speigner, Ray King and Rob Fick.

Bacsik: one good start, the rest have been either mediocre or plain terrible.
Time to get someone else in here, he's been just average, and really hasn't been all that effective either.
1-4, 33.1 IP, 12 K, 42 H, 20 R, 4.59 ERA and a .304 BAA.
Replacement: Joel Hanrahan
How long is it seriously going to take the Nats to realize he's the real deal, and guys like these are blocking his way.
AAA numbers: 2-1, 2.35 ERA, 38 IP, 30 H, 14 R, 37 K, .213 BAA

Speigner: meh, taking him out of the bullpen was a huge mistake, has seen his ERA flot to 8.76 and has allowed nearly one run per inning, on average.
2-3, 38.0 IP, 18 K, 56 H, 37 R, 8.76 ERA, and a .346 BAA, oh, and WHIP at 2.05!
Replacement: Emiliano Fruto
The guy we got for Jose Vidro is looking like he actually may pan out, Fruto has been lights out on the mound, giving up only 21 hits in 38 innings of work and holding opponents to a .175 batting average against him.
AAA numbers: 3-2, 3.22 ERA, 38 IP, 21 H, 13 R, 32 K, .175 BAA

Ray King: we all thought he was going to be a good pitcher for us, well, we were wrong and King has been pretty bad on the mound this year.
Come on, surely Jimbo can do better than this...
0-0, 16.2 IP, 8 K, 19 H, 12 R, 6.48 ERA and a .292 BAA
Replacement: Arnie Munoz
Munoz is OK, and may turn out to be an improvement over King, should he get the call, right now, he's appeared in the same numbers of games as King while posting a 3.18 ERA and a high numbers of K's.
AAA numbers: 1-1, 3.18 ERA, 22 IP, 22 H, 8 R, 28 K, .247 BAA.

Rob Fick: Fick's a nice guy, good fielder, not so great of a hitter.
He had an injury-riddled 2006, but managed to put up respectable numbers.
This year, he has received playing time, and he's had nothing to show for it.
In 52 games, he's put up a batting average hovering over the Mendoza line, and threatening to fall far beneath it should he go 0-for-4 one game.
Great guy, mediocre player, I miss Travis Lee.
16-for-79, 52 games, 0 HR, 4 RBI, .203 AVG, .289 OBP.
Replacement: D'Angelo Jimenez
I know he sucked as a PH with us in limited duty, but he's thrived in AAA starting every single game and hitting .376, he can also play multiple positions, we should give him another chance.
AAA numbers: .376 AVG, 56-for-149, 6 HR, 20 RBI, .472 OBP, .597 SLG

Worth Callups: Chris Schroder (2-2, 1.74 ERA, 31 IP, 23 H, 8 R, 43 K's!
Potential callup: Chris Michalak ( 2-1, 3.72 ERA, 19.1 IP, 14 H, 8 R, 8 K's)

As I mentioned in another thread, I think Bacsik will be gone when one of the long line of starters on the DL comes back. Hanrahan has been inconsistent since coming off the DL, but he might be the guy if the others stay out much longer. Hopefully, Spegnier can return to the pen and be productive there.

Fick is no great shakes at the plate, but they'll need him for the rest of the year, especially if they trade Young. He can play 1B, and C, which they need depth at both spots.

I'm not sure why, but I'm really pulling for Fruto to be successful. He's not ready yet, and he might even be on the D/L; I can't find him on any of the minor league rosters.

Jimenez plays multiple position, just not very well, which prompted Boswell to nickname him E-6. If Guzman or Lopez go down, they may be forced to bring him up, but at age 29 1/2, he's a placeholder.

Leave Fick. He's at least ok defensively.

Jimenez hasn't been good at either offense or defense (at a major league level) since 2002 or something like that.

Yeah, he is good defensively but he is so bad at the plate that I believe anyone with decent fielding skills and good bat will be better. It is sad to say, but he is horrendous, I don't think he can hit a sac-fly or sac-bunt when you need him to.

What about this guys, Brandon Watson, who was mentioned during the Yankees and Mets game last night for having a 42 game hit-streak. I am not saying he is going to be the next big thing but I am sure he will be better than Fick. Fick seems like a nice guy, just not a good hitter.

Watson had his chance, he stunk, he was gone, and damn he's back again.

I don't care how well he's doing in the minors, if you actually saw him be the Opening Day leadoff CF last year, then you know how pathetically talentless he is.

Watson is the consummate AAAA player. He didn't make it out of spring training for a reason. Anyway, we have enough OFs with no power already.

You are kidding right? You don't think hes worth another look considering the fact that he had a 43 game hit streak on one of the highest levels of professional baseball? Looks like hes getting the call nonetheless.

Well, we are going to get our wish granted, at least mine and maybe NatsSoxFan. Even though it happened in an unfortunate way for Fick, but he is in CA attending his mother's funeral, Watson will be called up.

I'd forgotten about him already. Maybe he'll come back in Sept.

When Escobar comes back, the Nats will have a glut of OFs. My guess is that Nook will be DFA'd. A team that can afford to keep a PR/defensive replacement OF on the bench might pick him up if he were.
