I noticed that, in his career, pitcher Gregg Olson only had 4 at bats, but he hit a home run in one of them, for his only career hit. I was wondering if there are any other players who have hit a home run in 4 or fewer career at bats, and if not, does Olson "technically" have the best home run ratio of any player in MLB history?

Luke Stuart was 1 for 3 with 1 HR in his career, but he doesn't even hold the record. Esteban Yan is 2 for 2 with 1 HR.

And here I was thinking Estaban Yan wasn't that good a player... but a career BA of 1.000 and a Home Run in every other AB? Call the Hall!

You are right Mad. Yan has an OPS+ of 769! Babe Ruth eat your heart out!

There have been 8 players with 4 or fewer at bats and a home run to their credit. Two of them have done it with 2 career at bats. Esteban Yan and the other is Frank O'Connor who was a pitcher for the Phillies in 1893. He like Yan also went 2 for 2 with a homer. Frank's OPS+ was 817

Some people argue that Ruth was a better HR hitter than Aaron, because if he had as many at bats as Aaron, he would have hit a lot more home runs. Well, using the same logic, if Yan had as many at bats as Aaron, he would have hit 6182! :dance

Why's that?I think there's a saying,
"If you have to ask . . ." :laugh

I also like the one, "If you don't know..."

I also like the one, "If you don't know..."Do you like the saying, "Comparing Aaron to basically sixteen full years of Ruth's league-leading batting, is not quite the same as comparing either to fewer plate apps than at least three big leaguers have had in ONE INNING!"

Just because it's not sensible to do that (which he obviously knows, it was just a joke), doesn't mean it's not the same philosophy.
