What does he half to do to gain Torre's trust, I'll grand you that his contorl isn't the best. But his stuff is wicked...he brings in Myers after a walk, a hit that would have been a hit off of anyone, and a strike out of all things.

I almost think that we should be grateful that Bruney is on the team at all and plays as much as he does. Given Torre's huge predilection against young relievers and favor for struggling veterans, it's pretty amazing that Bruney has been able to stick.

I remember last year when we picked up Bruney from Arizona, I didn't even know who he was. He was nearly un-hittable at the end of the year last year and he has been solid overall this year. Like XX said, I think we should definitely be grateful for having him. Think about, the Red Sox could have picked him up????

I want to add that while Bruney's stuff is very impressive, I wouldn't be ready to trust him with the setup role because of the walks issue. Bruney still really only at the beginning of his career, he's only thrown 127 big league innings. Given how little experience he has had, it's pretty remarkable that he's as good as he is, and he still has lots of time to improve. I could see Bruney becoming a closer one day, but he's probably a year or two away.

agreed^, im starting to think he's mariano's replacement.. i would have liked to see Joe stick with him last night too.. but you cant have a guy giving a lead off walk then a hit in that situation (altho it was an infield hit wasnt it?)

Should they just use Bruney and Proctor in what which ever desired order for seventh and eighth inning? I'm shocked why Torre keep using Krazy Kyle. Bruney been good this season. Heck, likely one of the only relief pitcher not to go through an awful rough patch this season.

I do not like Farnsworth one bit. I have never liked Farnsworth, he comes in and seems to give up something every single time he touches the baseball. He sucks, he's overrated, he can't play in the American League. I'd like for him to be shown the door in the middle of this year so that we can bring in another relief pitcher through a trade.

However, speaking of Bruney, I'm really loving this guy SO FAR. I still would like to see what he has to give us in the playoffs or late in the year in playoff atmosphere. He's shut down Boston a couple times this year so that much I like.

As far as I know, I could be wrong, the thing with Bruney is that he needs more rest than most relief pitchers. He doesn't have the endurance that Scott Proctor and Luis Vizcaino have where those guys can go every single day and still be near 100% for the playoffs. I think it's a smart move to use Bruney as less as possible so if we do need him everyday in the playoffs we have him. In a close game I'd like to see Proctor in the 7th, Bruney in the 8the, and Rivera in the 9th. I still like Vizcaino despite his 6.06 ERA and I think down the stretch he's going to make some big outs for us.

As for Bruney being the future closer, I don't know, I really don't think Bruney can go every single day and doesn't have the endurance to be a closer. He's more of an occasional set up man.
