Too bad I don't bet. Imagine the payoff on this one.

I just read the box score on mlb.com
Good game by Zimmerman. I tell you what though... their record may not show it, but the Nats can beat the best of them!

They were 9-25 after their 8 game losing streak in early May, and 16-11 since then. Lenny Harris has done wonders for the hitters since he took over as batting coach, and St Claire is getting something out of nothing most nights with the starting pitching. Lately, they haven't been the train wreck everyone predicted, and I am enjoying watching the games now instead of covering my eyes periodically like earlier in the year.

If we continue on the pace since Lenny Harris became hitting coach, we'll finish 83-79 by season's end.

I like what he's doing. The sad thing is, is that I cannot tell you off the top of my head any other starters except Chico, Bergmann, and Speigner.

Oh well, back to earth...

Washington IP H R ER BB SO HR ERA
Speigner (L, 2-3) 3.1 10 7 7 2 1 1 8.76

Except for the Rule 5 thing, Speigner would logically be the one to go down when (or if) JP, Hill, or Bergman are ready to come back, but I guess Bacsik will be the odd man out.

Speigner was killer in the bullpen, and he's just been a total load of crap since moving to the rotation.

That reminds me, this thread should be named: "Levale Speigner, the enigma in itself..." :D

He had a 3.48 ERA in April, then we moved him and came the 11.43 tag for May, and 9.45 for June.

:dismay:

You nailed it. He's not a starter. There was an article in the Post today that spells it all out. http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/06/16/AR2007061600745.html
