The dreams of draft day often dissolve into frustration and disillusionment, so there's no reason to get too excited just yet. I'm just trying to imagine the Giants with an unhittable rotation and a lineup that can't hit a lick. It's so contrary to the club's history in San Francisco, it boggles the mind. But if you're looking for criticism of a club obsessed with young pitching, you've come to the wrong place.

Jenkins is right, for decades the Giants have been hitter first, pitchers second, and have had some modicum of success. But we've seen over the years many teams that can win a WS with just good starting pitching and almost nothing else. The 1988 Bums come to mind. Their lineup included Mike Davis, Mickey Hatcher and guys like that, but with really good starters like Hershieser and Belcher, they beat a far superior Oakland team. I wouldn't mind a rotation like Jenkins described, let me put it that way.
