No, this is not a thread to big up Matty Stairs for his great play over the past week or so (although one should be started on that as well). This thread is to comment on how great and natural it looks when Matt is on the bench (not in starting lineup), wearing his Jays pullover windbreaker, sitting next to Ernie Whitt and John Gibbons (who also wear pullover Jays windbreakers). It's almost as if we have two bench coaches when Stairs isn't starting in th OF. Could a job as a coach with Jays be in his future?

I'm glad he's been playing so well and hope he keeps it up. The only time I haven't been a fan of his was in the '99 season (I think) cause he hit all those HR's against the Jays when he was with the A's....

I was thinking the same thing that I wouldn't mind him sticking around with the Blue Jays after he hangs up the cleats.

I wouldn't either. He's a professional hitter who is used to coming off of the bench, and someone like that is very valuable to any team really.

And really, where would we be without Stairs right now? Lind struggles at the plate a bit while filling in for Reed - put Matt in LF. Overbay goes on the DL - put Stairs at 1B. I was very excited when the Jays signed him to be a bench player - he has by far surpassed any expectations that we had going on to the season and has made dealing with some of the injuries that much easier...

Thanks! Lifelong Jays fan here!

I was happy to see Lind's performance last night. Breakout game perhaps.

It looks like this thread was quite prophetic. What was it, 13 HRs since May 13th? Not to mention that stellar triple last night.
