1. Straight fielding - fingerof the glove down, palm to the ball. Bounce the ball off the wall such that it gives you a ground ball. The ball it caught by clam shelling the the thowing hand over the ball glove goes forward then up. This will help you go through the ball when fielding a ground ball in the field.

2. Back hands - bounce the ball off the wall so you get a short hop. glove is fingers down, ball is caught with the fingers down moving forward then up. We teach leading with the elbow so that the elbow goes oput then up.

3. Forehand slaps -bounce the ball off the wall so you get a short hop. Body opened to the ball, glove fingers down glove moves to the ball first then slaps at an imaginary bag off the back leg. Out first then slap tag.

4. Two-hand bounce - three feet away from the wall. Throw with right catch with left. Throw with left catch with right. Increase your speed as you get better.

Let me know if these help

i basicly do the same thing. i made my self a little board that acts like a glove and i but a strap on the back of it where i slide my hand through so it stays on and i field the balls with a little wood board. helps for soft hands recieving the ball and makes ur thrwoing hand come automatically so it helps ur transistion time.

please help Jake (or anyone else) me as much as you can because i have a problem with scouts. there's this pro scout for the Reds who likes me (i am only 14, im in 8th grade). He loves my 6.7 60 yard dash time, my good baserunning, my very power, my hitting for average, but i have 2 big holes in my game. my fielding and my arm accuracy (from short range, from long range it is accurate). so, as a result where do i play. for me, i want to have a position so i can work on it, but where. Really he thinks i shouldn't catch because it wastes my speed, i shouldn't play first because because its a waste, but other than 1st (i don't really catch anymore) i have really no experience anywhere else because i caught for 6 years (i don't catch anymore because i like almost seriously screwed up my knees, and i would be slow, which is a tool gone away). Where do you think i should play, and what drills do you know that is good. pretty much what i am trying to do is learn how to play everywhere, meaning learn to take ground balls, fly balls, make the throws etc. so what can you do to help.

my coach/ great family friend has one of those, and when i get a lesson with him we use it for 20 minutes. i am going to buy one soon too.

Card,
It's too early for scouts to be looking at you, too many things can happen between now and your senior year in HS. Skill development, physical maturation, etc are all variables. The only scouts that should be taking you serious at this age are HS coaches. Play ball and have fun...
