My season finally started, and I threw a simulated game at practice..

At first i was doing good, i struck out the first 2 batters but then i beaned the next 2 and after that i requested to be took out becuase i had 0 confidence. I don't know why I was so uncofident and nervous. I was fine until the first batter i beaned and then after that for some reason I didn't think I could hit the strike zone anymore. Is there anyway to avoid or help this mental problem?

I'm 14 by the way.

See the catcher's mitt and only the catcher's mitt.

just don't worry, i've done that too. i was in for the save (and for the record i am NOT a good pitcher, because i throw to hard and i am to wild). so, first, i struck out the first two batters, then i walked alot of people, my defense made errors, and i got a blown save... the moral is that it happens to everyone. Look at Anthony Reyes. Acording to those rankings, he has been having horrible luck. Listen, it happens to everyone. what i would do though if i started to have no confidense, i would just think about the batters i struck out and not the guys i just beaned.

The more you practice, the easier it's going to get.
It'll feel as if the game is slowing down, and you'll do just fine.

Try doing positive self talk, because if you think you're going to screw up after (or before) you screw up, you're already setting yourself up for failure.

xfactor, you are 100% correct. there was this study where they got theese people to take a test. half of the group had to write for like 10 minutes about how bad they were, and what they are bad at. but, the other half had to write about how good they were and very positive things about themselves. the second group scored way better on the tests.

Confidence is not something that is built at the first pitching appearance. You gotta have experience. Of course failure is good

listen failure is only good if you can learn from it and get better.

Failure is necessary to improve. Too many gifted kids (in all areas of life - not just baseball) hit the wall of limitations, and the only way to get over it is to apply more effort. Often the kids who have average talent will hit the wall sooner and have no problem ponying up the effort it takes to get over it, but the kids who are supremely talented might never hit the wall until it's too late and then sulk and give up.

How you deal with failure defines you as a person, especially in baseball.
