What exactly, in plain words, is adjusted ERA? I know somewhat of it. And, I also know somewhat of it, what exactly is WHIP? I think it is walks and hits per innings pitched.
Finally, what is agood and poor WHIP to have?

I assume you mean Adjusted ERA+ as BBRef calls it. It is just a pitcher's ERA compared to the league norm and adjusted for the park factor of his home park. It shows his actual relative performance in the context he performed in.
WHIP is walks+hits per inning pitched. It's basically baserunners allowed per inning. A good WHIP is anything about 1.1 or so. I'm not big on WHIP though, I've never seen it in a context adjusted form and it is heavily defense dependant.
