In your opinion, what is your pick for the greatest Yankees game? This can be regular season or post season. After reading a post below, I would also like to ask for any memories from games that were great, such as the crowd chanting for Paul O'Neill as mentioned in the post below. Thanks!

In my opinion, the best have been:

David Cone's and David Wells' perfect games

2003 ALCS Game 7

1996 World Series Game 4

Other:

Last year's comeback vs Texas
Our Comeback over Boston just a few weeks ago!

I know there have been better games, but in my lifetime, these have been my favorite.

In my lifetime I'd say it was Game 4 of the '96 WS. That was the game where the Yankees, trailing 2-1 in the series, and trailing 6-0 in the game, came back and won, and that game captured the momentum to win the series, IMO.

So many games to choose from.
But for me it had to be 1976 game 5 ALCS. After rooting for some pretty bad Yankees teams in the late 60's and early 70's, this game stands out.
Chris Chambliss, the pandemonium.....very exciting.

The best game I`ve ever seen was the Texas game last year. The 4 run comback in the 9th against Billy Wagner was pretty awesome to

My Choice is hands down (IMO) - Don Larsen's perfect game in WS. 1955-59? 1-0 against Brooklyn Dodgers (?)

I don't think this will ever happen again.

I thought I would bring back this thread to see where friday's comeback win @ Boston ranked on your list of greatest yankees games? Given the playoff situation and the extent that the Yankees needed a win, I think its one of the best.

Is this in my lifetime or all time??

Well my lifetime:
>2001 WS Late inning Homerun games
>2003 Arron Boone HR Game
> 13 inning Jeter jumps into the crowd catch game vs Boston (best regular season game ever)
> Boomer's Perfect Game
> Cone's Perfect Game
> Abbott's No hitter (cuz I was there!)
> Gambi walkoff in the rain!!
> Arods walk hr games
> 96 WS game 6
> 2003 playoff game the Padro/Zimmer fight game

Some of my favorite Moments are not really games but what happended during and after the games. 2001 Playoffs when the very emotional crowd chanted Paul O'Neill over and over and when the Whole crowd were chanting and singing and the closes thing it sounded like is when crowds do it at Soccor(football) matches around the world, the whole stadium shook that was really cool.
In 2003 after Boone's homer run when Clemens, Boomer, moose , Andy and Mel went out to Babe Ruth's Monument and gave the Babe a drink! I remember Rodger saying "look it mel he is Smileing, the babe is smileing!" that was Awsome!

Awesome! thanks for sharing! I remember that last part as well! That whole series was memorable capped off with Boone's shot! I will never forget the emotional singing of "God Bless America" afer 9/11.

My favorite was the 2001 World Series games when tino martinez hit the game tying homer then the next game when scott brosius did the same.

I still don't think anything could match the Bucky Dent game. My heart was in my throat for over 3 hours. I turned away from the TV when that last pitch to Yaz was on it's way. When Bill White yelled that it was popped up I finally looked. I was sweatin' like a pig.:applaud: :baseball:

The greatest game I can remember witnessing was when I was 9 years old, on September 4, 2003, when Jim Abbott, literally single-handedly threw a no hitter against Cleveland.

I've never been to any "special" history making Yankee games. I mean my first game at the Stadium is special to me, but nothing significant. If Ian Kennedy becomes a pretty good pitcher I could say I was at his debut, but that's where the special games I've been to end for me.

Anyhoo, greatest Yankee game that I've watched, Game 7 2003 ALCS Boone's HR. I remember that I stayed up to watch it after my mother told me to go to bed several times. I remember I was just too nervous to watch it, much like Yankwood was with Dent's game, and kept turning the tv on and off with every pressure pitch. Except for Boone's HR, I remember telling myself to stop turning the TV on and off, and I'm just gonna watch this one inning cause I really had to go to bed, and then BOOM first pitch deep into the LF seats, I was so joyous and crazy after that. It took me till like 2:00 in the morning to fall asleep, I really am gonna remember that. Other than maybe the 2000 and the 2001 WS, which I watched but wasn't as crazily into it yet, game 7 2003 is the first game that I fully remember. It's my favorite Yankee moment.

That was my senior year in HS and I remember doing the exact same thing.... needed to go to bed to get up for morning workouts, etc, but I stayed up and then in the top of the 9th, the cable TV went out... I went and got my dad and asked him where in the world an antenna would be and he didn't know so I put the tv on antenna mode and took the cable from the wall and moved it around untill it came in clear enough to watch... a little while later Boone hit the homer!!:applaud:
