I was at the game. After seven, I was going to call my brother and make sure he saw it, but decided I didn't want to jinx it. I hope my thinking about it didn't put the jinx on Bergman.
It was a great game anyway. One of the top two or three I've seen in person at RFK.

I didn't, it only counts as a jinx if I say the words "no-hitter" "no-no" or no hits, I didn't say any of em.

i'm just glad colome didn't blow it at the end there, imagine us losing that game 3-2 or something, i saw it coming a mile away, maybe i'm just used to it to with this team. but anyways, great performance by Jason to say the least, and now a 4 game win streak :clapping

I was preparing myself for that outcome, but watching him fan Andruw to end it was priceless.

suggestion. don't even say that. you don't see teammates going around the pitcher in between innings saying "shhhh, don't say anything about you know what to you know who is sitting down there at the end of the bench"
I saw a no-hitter & a pitcher get within two outs of a no-hitter. It's exciting & no matter how close a pitcher comes to a no-hitter, it's never possible until the last out is made.
I've listened to the radio broadcast of a no-hitter. It's funny that the one set of announcers went out of their way to avoid saying no hitter. When the other group of announcer came in, they were saying no-hitter as often as possible.

4 of 5 starters on DL, Hill, Patterson, Williams...and now Bergmann on the 15 day DL...what is it with this team and injuries, we can never catch a break. This will certainly hurt the rotation.

Makes you wonder if it has something to do with the team's training regimen, especially in Bergman's case, since I'm pretty sure he'd never had a serious injury before. The others may or may not be damaged goods (Patterson in particular).

Today's starter is Mike Bacsik, who is no spring chicken at 29. He's done a fair job in Columbus, going 1-3, 4.00. He has a good K/BB ratio of 4.7, but is tied for second on the team for HR's allowed, with 6 in 36 IP. Keep your fingers crossed :dismay:

They've both been in the bigs for several cups of coffee. Michalak is much older than Bacsik, so he is probably considered a place holder in AAA, while Bacsik might have a little more upside. I'm not sure what his story is, but he was 11-0, 2.79 in Tuscon last year, and hasn't played in the majors since he pitched in three games for Texas in '04.

Bacsik pitched a gem this game, but no new news, our offense is no where to be found once again. I'm really missing the bat of Johnson here, where he always works the pitcher for either a hit or a walk, and i his exceptional defense to say the least, so many balls hit to the first base side that go for hits that Nick could easily snag.
I also didn't agree with Acta pitching Rauch back to back innings. Oh well, another re-building year =/

I'm really concerned with Zimmerman so far this year. Hes played his characteristically great defense but his bat has been ice cold all year and hes only batting around .250, last i checked, hes hit 3 homeruns the past like 5 or so games but his average isn't where you'd expect.

He's still young, and I think he's pressing somewhat because the team is focusing on him to be their marquee player. Also, he doesn't have Soriano and NJ batting ahead of him to get on base, and make pitchers pitch to him like last year. In a perfect world, he wouldn't be batting 3rd in the order. Anyway, he looks like he's starting to come around in the last couple of weeks, both at the plate and in the field.
