I'm really curious to see the results. I keep reading in the media about how the fans feel betrayed and a bunch of other stuff. So my question to all of you is: is it a big deal to you that he lied about Ryan's injury in ST?

I dont see why anyone would be mad. They would have handled the injury the same even if they told the truth and it's not like someone had some secret elbow pain reliever stashed away that could save Ryan at that exact time......

It isn't a huge deal that he lied but the Sportsnet people are telling us that if he hadn't lied the whole BJ situation would be fine, I don't see how that is a factor, but in my opinion he didn't fault anywhere.

It's not that I'm angry. I just don't see the point in lying. Just say it's an undisclosed injury or something, don't lie about the diagnosis.
The lying also makes me wonder whether or not they underestimated the severity of the elbow injury, thus leading them to further injure his arm. Had he not pitched for the first week of the season, would he be injured? Who knows... But the lying issue makes me uneasy about how the whole situation was dealt with.

I can't say I'm really surprised with the responses so far. The media has been completely it completly out of proportion. I think Geoff brings up some good ponts though. I really wish they had started the year with Ryan on the DL. I don't know if it what has made a difference or not, but now we have to ask whether of not they did underestimate his injury, or if they knew how bad it was and used him anyway.

i was leaning towards the dont care but i went with no. how on earth could you be mad at him?
and for people who voted yes, can you please tell me how him saying bj's elbow was hurt would have prevented him from being injured? just because the media would know his elbow was hurt, do you think gibbons would have handled the situation differently. gibby knew it was the elbow, not the back, and he wouldn't have thrown bj if bj didn't say his elbow was fine.
if i am bj ryan, i'm thankful of jp for not saying it's my elbow because i'd know i'd be getting hasseled by the media everyday about it.

Well, one of the people who voted "Yes" was a certain "Golsac" who has 0 posts. I would like to know the reason behind being angry.

I guess there's really nothing to be angry about. It's his team. Now if he were selling season tickets on the basis of "come watch BJ Ryan" when he knew he'd be out for the season, then that is a different issue and I think it's false advertising.

As an outsider I don't care. What I would be concerned about was whether the deception was in the best interest of the team or in the best interest of keeping one's job.
