TORONTO -- The Blue Jays placed right-hander Roy Halladay on the 15-day disabled list on Friday, and the former American League Cy Young Award winner is expected to miss four to six weeks.
Prior to Friday night's game against the Rays, the Blue Jays announced that Halladay was suffering from acute appendicitis and was undergoing surgery. For the season, Halladay is 4-2 with a 4.37 ERA in eight starts.
In his last two trips to the mound, Halladay has given up 17 runs on 23 hits over 10 1/3 innings in a pair of losses. The recent performance has been a drastic contrast to Halladay's showing in April, when he went 4-0 with a 2.28 ERA in six outings en route to the AL Pitcher of the Month Award.
On Thursday, Halladay yielded eight runs (seven earned) on 11 hits in five innings against Boston, which handed Toronto its ninth straight defeat. The pitcher and Toronto manager John Gibbons reported no health issues after the loss.

What the heck is going on? Maybe we are trying to set a record for most injuries in one year? What is the rotation now? Burnett, Ohka, MacGowan, Marcum and who? BRUTAL rotation!
EDIT: Glaus is limping off the field!! WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, the bad things are in a list:
9-game losing streak? Check.
B.J. Ryan out for the season? Check.
Roy Halladay out 2-6 weeks? Check.
WHY DOES THIS BAD LUCK STREAK HAPPEN TO US? :grouchy
This is getting absolutely ridiculous now. The Jays were picked to finish 3rd by most experts, and I don't see that now.
AAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! Well, the costly injuries and Gibbons' insecure job security aren't really helping things, and we have one of the most unstable bullpens in the Majors. Why MUST THIS HAPPEN?!

Oh boy guys, this is getting bleak now.
Victor Zambrano, here we come, oh sorry, DL too.
All we have to wait for now is John Thomson to come off the DL, blech.
 :faint:

I wouldn't think you'd mind that so much.
Overbay tries to tage up against Young from first and Adam Lind tries to delay steal second? what a bunch of morons Overbay tagging on that play seems like a fairly common play. Young is young and has a great arm; my money would be on him trying to be the hero and throwing out the lead runner. I think I was just a heads up play by Young. As for the delayed steal, you're not a moron when it's successful, and you're not successful if you don't try it.

I assume that when J.P. was getting this team ready in the off-season, he wasn't counting on his ace getting appendicitis.

This is just a horrible series of bad breaks, there's no way you can pin this on either J. Gibbons or JP. Too bad, I really thought they had a shot this year.

Well a great game here this afternoon, Accardo gets his first save, but I'm not all that happy with Butterfield sending Wells home, becasue it worked he looks like a genious but what if it didn't? people would critisize it alot but well the Jays won!!!

Tampa Bay is just what you guys needed to rebound from a bad start. You have certainly been hit hard with injuries, and it will be tough to make up for Doc. I wouldn't criticize your 3rd base coach too much. That was Upton's first game in CF this year I think, and he doesn't have much baseball sense, about situations. He doesn't really have a position to play either.

He only sent him because he knew it would work. Wells was going hard the whole way, and there was an inexperienced player in Centre. Had Baldelli been in centre, or had it been hit to say Crawford or Young, he wouldn't have sent him.
