I'm relatively new at collecting (getting back to it after many years), but I have a question.
I bought J.D. Drew's Topps 2007 card as part of a team set. What's up with the background? It looks fake, like someone created it on a computer. Is this a common occurrence? :noidea

Is it part of the Opening Day series? or series 1 white?
(In my opinion there are waaaay too many cards this year)

I appreciate your response, and I'm sorry it took a while to get back on this.
This is going to sound thick, but I can't find a single identifying mark on this card aside from Topps. It's a black card with four small squares printed on each corner on the front. Drew is looking at the camera, holding a bat across his shoulder. The background is, well, weird.
Any ideas?

"Any ideas?"
Yes. Topps started last year literally computer-generating uniforms for some players that have been traded. On some, it's pretty good (Tom Gordon in 2006 Topps, Yanks to Phils), and on some, it's close to awful (Mike Piazza in 2007 Topps, Padres to A's). One card that was never released, but I'm certain was (at least planned to be) altered was the 2006 Topps card of Jose Valentin. Valentin is shown getting a hit in a very ambigous-looking photo (we can barely see the background...it looks blurred on purpose, and Topps does this with their CGI-altered uniforms). It also has the correct team...the New York Mets...but Valentin is wearing a Dodgers jersey. Valentin was number 10 with the Dodgers, but changed his number because it was assigned to someone already (I don't remember who). Topps probably figured that giving him the wrong jersey number would look too out of place.

All right...thanks! I'm sure that's exactly what they've done here.
The Drew card is ugly as sin. There looks to be a couple mountains or something in the background, and the whole thing just appears fudged.
Thanks for the info, Dalkowski110.
