I inherited a very large collection of baseball cards and autographed baseballs a long time ago, and after having them sit in a corner for years, I've decided to sell them to someone who would actually enjoy having them...

I have NO idea where to even begin trying to find out how much any of it is worth, or even how to go about selling it...

right off the bat, are there any books and/or websites that would be a big help?

If I need appraisals, how should I go about it?

the collection is about 8-10 autographed baseballs, some with one signature, others with several. countless un-opened boxes, still in unbroken original wrapping. countless opened single cards. single cards in protective cases. it's just huge.

Any advice would be more than greatly appreciated.

I'd recommend getting a price guide to start. The industry standard is Beckett Baseball Card monthly, which you should be able to get at your local hobby or magazine shop.

Once you get that, you can start going through stuff and getting an idea of what you have, and what it might be worth. From there, you can decide on the best way to sell things.

Hope this helps, feel free to post specific questions on this board, as folks are very helpful!

You're gonna need Beckett Baseball Card PLUS though because it lists more cards and sets.

Good point, it has a lot more cards, more sets, and basically is a better reference. I think it goes for about $10.
