I just decided to get out my cards and inventory them. I started for a few years when i was younger;
89, 90, 91 Topps (complete)
91 Fleer (complete) I have a couple that where cut short on the sheet, players names are cut in half
91 Score, almost complete, looking for rest at parents house
91 Upper deck complete
a few 2002 topps and 2001 UD Evos.
I started to get back into the hobby while going through my cards
and I can't believe how complicated its gotten since then. So many versions, series..foil this, chrome that, Reserves.. and expensive.. obviously the brands staarted pricing them higher anticipating the players inside the box?
I might just have to stick to model aircraft.

My advice would be to just collect whatever you want. Do it because you enjoy it rather than to try to get rich later on like some people do. The odds of that happening are very slim.

It became complicated in 1993.
Or 1989, or 1995, or 1981...or whenever your own personal "good old days" ended.
The hobby is just that...a hobby...and it's only as complicated as you make it.
Find something you enjoy, and collect it...just because it's now pretty much impossible to own EVERY card that comes out EVERY year doesn't mean things are complicated, it means you have options.

Not really...a quick look through Beckett BBC Plus shows the following:
1991 - 13 sets
1992 - 14 sets
1993 - 17 sets
1994 - 22 sets
So, I guess you could say there were more in 1993, but there were much more in 1994 than 1993, and if I was going to pick one year out of them to be a key point in the upward trend, it'd be 1994.

It'd be interesting seeing the numbers for years following

Please excuse my ignorance, but are baseball cards still worth anything?
I havent collected cards since the mid 90s. And then once those poke-crap cards came out and started to be worth thousands, I was for sure that the baseball card had dropped off the face of the earth to some stupid Japanese card collecting game.

Is there a website I can go to? Or should I just search Ebay?

well since my last post...I've gotten hooked again...just like that.
I've since picked up on flow of the cards and have probably added about 2500-3000 cards since my first post. I'm not just looking for high valued cards in packs, but still trying to increase my inventory.
I've posted them here if anyone wants to look at the list of what I have so far.

Do you have duplicate cards from '07 Fleer you'd be interested in trading? I have extras to trade. PM me if interested.

Two words -
Shaquille O'Neal
I just remember a massive spike in price packs once his popularity took off.

Stadium Club (I think) had a red hot insert called Beam Team, or something like that, that really drove up the demand. Shaq was the most valuable.
I always point to the first premium issue, Upper Deck, as the high water mark of fun pack collecting. That was 1989. We were all shocked to see packs go for a couple bucks a shot. Expansion and inserts absolutely blew rookiemania, the big craze throughout the 80's, out of the water. There got to be too much, too soon, everyone trying to top each other.

There it is right there. I remember the Beam Team stuff.
The reason you gave below is a primary reason why alot of people who were collecting in the 90's have collections of worthless cards.
