The play was over in a flash, and it took me a couple of seconds for me to process what I had just seen. Tulowitzki had turned an unassisted triple play in the seventh inning, catching Chipper Jones's line drive for one out, stepping on second to double off the runner there, and tagging the runner coming from first.
Unassisted triple plays are probably the rarest play in baseball. Troy's was only the 13th in MLB history. Just for fun, I got on Wikipedia.org and looked up unassisted triple plays. The page had already been updated with Tulowitzki's before the Rockies-Braves game was even finished.
But the best part was that the Rockies actually won the game...
