4 dingers in a row at Fenway - yet another stat!! First Manny, then J.D., followed by Lowell and finished off by Varitek. The first time in history that the Red Sox has hit 4 consecutive HR's. The first time since 1964 that this feat has been performed by an AL team. Young Chase Wright found out what it is like to be a ML pitcher, with a tough lesson.
J.D.Drew has become a stat himself, being presumably the only player to ever figure in 2 instances of 4 consecutive HR's (being part of the amazing Dodgers 9th inning heroics against the Pads last year!), and having done it with different teams in different leagues. A good trivia question for later generations!

That's nothing, I once saw the Reds give up 5 homers in an inning. The only NL team to give up 5 HR in an inning is who (the Reds, 4 times). The KC As were the only other team.

I was kind of upset about hearing about that being a Dodgers fan. But I will say that a 9th inning tight playoff race that has 4 home runs in a row is a lot more note worth :gt

Two of my best friends were at that game. Good times. :D

The unbiased Joe Morgan said "I've never seen anything like that before."
I guess his bedtime must come very early, seeing as it recently happened seven months ago on 9/18/06.

Four 'Sox hitters spank a rookie making his second start on a big league diamond, and it's one of the most incredible feats in Red Sox history. Goes to show what a weak history they have, if something like that is one of the greatest moments.
Anything to Joe Morgan is "the most amazing moment I've ever seen in baseball." If there was an unassisted triple play, he'd fall out of his seat and disregard anything he said about the 4 HR/inning and start praising that feat.

Whoa, just because Morgan says it was one of the most incredible feats in Red Sox history, doesn't mean we all agree with him. I would rank plenty of moments ahead of that. And the Red Sox have their share of glorious moments.

Nope, it didn't. Four homers has happened that night, but not off the same pitcher. Plus, why would Morgan be biased about that?

Nah, I liked the 0-3 comeback. Now, how many times have the Yankees done that in their history? Weak.

Four straight HR in a game is an accomplishment by itself, regardless of who gave them up and when it occurred. And the last time any team hit 4 consecutive HR in a game was on 9/18/06 in the bottom of the 9th inning.
Joe Morgan told Rachel Robinson not to cheer for any team in the broadcast booth, but he fails to realize that he openly roots for the Giants and Reds.

You're absolutely right. It did happen off two different pitches. One who is a future hall of fame close named Trevor Hoffman. Not some rookie who might be playing AA next season.

Sorry, I didn't know this was a pissing contest. I really dont care. Just pointing out a fact.

So what? What happened in Boston is not exactly what happened in LA, so he was probably right when he said he had never seen that before. I didnt know LA fans would get so mad when another team accomplishes what their team did.

Like I said, four straight HR is an accomplishment that has only been done five times in baseball history, and three of those times were in the 1960s. Before last night, it happened on 9/18/06. For Joe Morgan to say that he had never seen 4 HR in a game is ludicrous.

Oh please, if the Yankees did that of a Red Sox pitcher making his 2nd start in the bigs you guys would be spewing more s**t than you would know what to do with. I'd also like to note that we ARE NOT talking crap about you because of that, we're talking crap about you because we swept you.
Also, no one said it was one of the most incredible feats in Red Sox history as i recall. A great feat indeed, but no one has said that it ranks up there with our 0-3 series comeback against your Chokees, or Fisks shot around the foul pole, or anything like that.
I think you might be pissed off cause the Yankees got swept....

Oh, one pitcher, of course. That makes all the difference in the world. Also it was 61.35 degrees when it happened. Doubtless, it had never happened at that temperature as well, noted the very astute and unbiased Mr. Morgan.

What are you talking about? All I said was that it was different, which it was. I didnt say it was better or anything like that, so I dont see why Dodger fans are offended either way..
What's the big deal about what Morgan said? maybe he just forgot.. I'm sure that right when it happened, he decided to pretend like that night in LA happened just so he could slight the dodgers because he is a big Giants fan.. right..:crazy

When has LA, or anyone else for that matter, comeback from a 3-0 series deficit against their greatest rival, coming back against the best closer EVER in the process, and gone on to win the World Series?
Oh, thats right. NEVER.
I'm pretty sure we've gotten to Mo in that situation at least once before too.

I love that the Sox accomplish something that was had never happened before in the history of the franchise, and the thread gets overrun by Dodgers fans that try and piss all over it because it wasn't as good as what they did last year, and they don't want anyone to get the impression it was. We know that, it wasn't, but that's hardly the point of this thread. If your neighbor gets a BMW 3-series, do you go up to him and say, "hey man, too bad you can't have a 5-series like me."?

I wouldn't put it past him to do that. He's made many moronic and biased comments against LA over the years. If ESPN gets around to do another LA game on Sunday Night Baseball, check him out.

That's not the point. My first post in this thread was about Joe Morgan's comments about the 4 straight HRs. Before last night, it happened in September of 2006. I don't see how Morgan has never seen it happen before. In no way am I diminishing the Red Sox's feat last night. You can recheck all my posts here in this thread to confirm that.

I too believe his comment was relating to he himself having never seen it accomplished off one pitcherbefore. Those who listened on would have noted he did go on to say it had been done back in 1964 (and undoubtedly he was not there to see it in person)
I didnt know LA fans would get so mad when another team accomplishes what their team did. I too am a Dodger fan and I was cheering when the Red Sox accomplished this feat (especially against the Yankees :D ). It is a feat that is extremely rare and should be :applaud: regardless which team accomplishes it. Ok so it was against a rookie pitcher, but so what....the pitcher was seen to be good enough to be in the Yankees line up, and he undoubtedly learnt a valuable lesson from it.
The Dodgers 4 straight last year was in astounding circumstances, but at the same time that should not distract from the Red Sox feat this week.

Joe Morgan probably meant he'd never see that live right in front of him. "If you stay around long enough, you'll probably see something you've never seen before."
I can say I've never seen 4 straight homers, I've never seen anything like that before. I have seen 3 straight 2-Run Homers (Batter On, Homer, Batter On, Homer, Batter On, Homer).
