Here I am once again. :laugh

Mark Buehrle has a no-hitter going. He has went through 8 innings and hasn't given up a hit. He's got only one more inning to go. Start the countdown!

I'm not giving up... ;)

Of course Basketball is on, so Sportscenter can't pick it up, and ESPNews.... has O's and Devil Ray's highlights on, and they can't interept that.

Yeah and only one BB to Sosa, who was picked off at first. This could be a 27 up - 27 down situation.

ESPNews now has a radio guy on the phone, but he can't give play-by-play. :( 1 out in the ninth, 2 strikes, 2 balls.

Very impressive no hitter, he did with with the minimun number of batter faced. This puts him in a special class with the likes of Terry Mulholland.

He walks Sammy Sosa then picks him off! :laugh

I wish I would have seen this earlier. I was watching the Dodgers game on regular TV and the great Vin Scully NEVER mentioned it. He had 2 hours to say something and didn't. I've never seen a no-hitter in person, on TV, or heard one on the radio. This was my chance and I missed it.

He's a purist.

Yeah but he wasn't calling the game. He could have been real subtle about it:
"Around the AL, the Twins lead 2-0 and Felix Hernandez left due to injury in the first, the White Sox lead 6-0 in the 7th. Buehrle for Chicago has pitched 7 innings and allowed just 1 walk so far...."

He wouldn't have even had to say he has a no-hitter, just that he's allowed just a walk. This has been a really tough season for me. My goal in life (as far as baseball goes and doesn't invlove the Tigers) is to see the following in person:
1. A Triple play
2. A Cycle
3. A No-hitter
I'm not even going to get greedy, the triple play doesn't have to be unassisted, the cycle doesn't have to be natural, and the no-no doesn't have to be perfect.

This season I missed today's no-no (although my goal states I must attend the game but seeing it on TV wouldn't be bad either) and I HAD TICKETS to the Angels-Dodgers preseason game at Dodger stadium where the Angels turned a triple play. That was the second time I'd even seen one of those on TV (Tigers-White Sox last year) but the fact I had tickets and didn't go is upsetting (I'm a season ticket holder but was on spring break and didn't want to drive 200 miles from my home to my college apartment to see a preseason game).

I missed 2 cycles last year....Guillen had one for Detroit but I had to work. Detroit gave up a NATURAL cycle to Texas last year but I quit watching early and switched games since it was a blowout. For Sanchez's no-no last year I was at the Rangers-A's game so I missed that. I tried going to an Applebees for dinner since I hear one was in progress through 7 but they had something else on and refused to change the channel since someone had requested what was on (I think it was CNN). A no-hitter >>>>>>>>> CNN

Ha ha... Too funny. I guess that's better than Andy Hawkins, right?

Congrats to Mark!

Im happy for another no-hitter, but ESPN didnt broadcast it live, that really was a bummer for me, but then again, I'm so happy for him pitching that gem.

True, did he mention the White Sox game at all?

I watched the highlight reel of this on mlb.com, and it was the first time I heard that ChiSox announcer saying "he gone" whenever the opposing team strikes out. Is that new? It's really annoying. I like the "you can put it on the boooooard.... YES!", but "he gone" sounds really stupid.

Oh yeah, nice no-no by Buehrle.

He only mentioned the Sox game once:
"Around baseball, Mark Buehrle of the Chicago White Sox has no-hit the Texas Rangers. And here's Nomar, as you may recall..."

Knick9, why do you keep starting threads about no-hitters during no-hitters?

A rare feat indeed, someone mentioned no-no and the no-no stayed alive.

I WAS THERE! :clapping

I never thought I would see one in person. EVER. First no-no in the city of Chicago since 1-9-6-7!! Thats waay before I was even born.

Buehrle said he brought up his no hitter several times during the game to teammates to try and "jinx the jinx."

Also, Hawk and Darren Jackson do the games on TV, not Wimpy anymore as someone else mentioned. They've been the TV guys for at least since 2000.

Are you upset about that? I don't believe in jinxes and I never will. Let's be happy with Mark's results. ;) :applaud:

Hopefully you'll get a chance to post this sort of thread again soon. I'm not talking about Buehrle so much as that drought we had between no-hitters finally broken last year.
You can't jinx what you have nothing to actually do with.

We needed this one. The Sox really needed a spark and last night they showed the kind of team they can really be in '07.

Some people have all the luck! :grouchy

I have never been so lucky to watch a live no-hitter by a professional ballplayer (even on TV). The only no-no I recall seeing was a local amateur game (but the game only went 7 innings on account of a mercy rule), so I guess that doesn't count.

Actually the last no-hitter in Chicago was in 1984, when Jack Morris no-hit the White Sox on April 7, 1984.

And the last no-hitter in Chicago by a home team was Milt Pappas for the Cubs against the Padres on September 2, 1972.
