I dunno about you guys but when I watch baseball and I see empty stands and a gloomy day outside...the game just doesn't seem worth watching and it always seems boring. But when the place is packed and it's a decent day out, no matter what it always seems like it's worth it. What are your thoughts?

The weather has been nobodys friend this season. Why teams with roofs travel to play northeastern and midwestern teams without them is beyond me...

I watched some of the Brave's game today, and my did it look like a gloomy place to be. Rainy, cold, empty seats galore.

I don't really care if the stadium is full or empty. If it's a good game, I'll watch it.

Well said. A good game is a good game regardless if there is a big crowd at the park.

Baseball is never boring to me. Rain or shine -- I love baseball.

I agree - there are no dull games - only dull minds.

So what does that say about the Marlins fanbase? :(

Most of them wait to show up until the last week of the season if the Fish are is still in it. Those kids deserve more die-hard fans.

Empty crowd just means easy to leave the parking lot.

That's the norm at Turner Field. Especially when the Braves are in the playoffs.

Empty stands is becoming the norm in Baltimore, except when the Yankees and the Red Sox are in town

I don't mind empty stands as long as the Reds win. Last year, when the Reds drew over 35,000, they had a losing record. I would urge people not to go to games.

Does anyone know how many people were at the Marlins game last night? It seemed extremely empty. :(

You read my mind, less parking pressure when to leave.

Baseball is, always has been, and hopefully always will be, exciting. However, I agree with the original poster in that the game can seem more exciting in front of a packed house on a sunny day and somewhat less exciting in front of empty stands on a gloomy day. The cure? Stick to the radio.

Not when your team loses in front of sellouts and wins in front of on 10,000.

Another cure is to have a kid along - age generally is equivalent to how many innings they can stand, but if you can afford 25 bathroom breaks, that kid will often jump and shout and cheer no matter what's happening. (Your really young ones will cheer the grounds crew :-)

that's how I've seen it in the Canton_Akron Indians games I went to and also the Indians games of the '80s, when you never had really full stands. And that place looked especially cavernous. But, I still remember one kid shouting Julio Franco's name like he was an opera singer trying to see just how long a note he could hold on those vowels :-) That makes it seem really exciting. Hey, get enough kids screaming, 5,000 can seem like a lot more.
