Just got a new bat, second day i've used it and I already got a dent in it. Does anybody know how dents affect a aluminum bats performance? If you just rotate the bat and hit off the other side that isn't dented will the 'trampoline' affect be the same? or does it weaken the whole bat.

It would weaken the entire bat. What kind is it because most bats have some sort of warrenty with the company

On a big field game most umps will not let you use a damaged bat.

i'm in college and its a rawlings plasma fusion, I just sent in a dented tpx dynasty and bought this plasma. Were in the middle of the season and I will send the bat back after the season. I've seen the umps check our bats and another guy has a bat that has a dent the size of mine and they let him use it. I just want to know if I should use another bat or just keep using the dented one. The dent is hard to see with the naked eye you have to rub your hand around it so its not large. I figure the trampoline affect would still be the same on the good side but I'm not sure about the physics of the whole thing.

I think it messes it up. I don't know how, but it's unsafe to use a dented bat.

Small dents don't matter until one side of the bat is flat, then you'll have yourself a cricket bat. That would then be an illegal bat.
