We have a TTM thread, so why not have an IP one.
Mets vs Cardinals
Billy Wagner - OMLB
Shawn Green - OMLB
Moises Alou passed me over 3x and Jose Reyes 2x. Pretty good other than the outcome of the game.

When the Cardinals sent Rick Ankiel down to the low minors, they first sent him to my town - Johnson City, TN. He would get mobbed at the end of every game. He'd complain about it, saying he just wanted to go get something to eat. But he'd sign for almost everybody there. He signed my ticket one night.
The season after he left, they gave away his bobblehead before a game, in a Johnson City jersey. It was strange timing, since he was long gone. There was a long line of people wanting to get in and get a bobblehead, then most of them just turned around and walked back out.
I got Steve Stone's autograph at Wrigley. He was a little bit rude. The same day I got Willie Green's autograph. He was driving a real nice NSX. I wonder what he's driving now!

I went to The Frisco Roughriders game vs Springfield Cardinals a couple days ago. These are AA teams.
Let me tell you that Frisco is a great park to get IP graphs from. Counting me, there were 3 collectors there.
My list of successes is on my site.
Colby Rasmus was a very nice person
Jon Jay gave my son and I a game used broken bat
Eric Hurley was ( and I hate to say this about any player that gives a graph) but he was a jerk.

Hunter Pence 0/1
Orlando Palmeiro 1/2
Luke Scott 1/1

I didn't have anything for Trever Miller. Pence signed 1, but later came back after we moved over to the Cardinals side. David Eckstein and Jim Edmonds both signed, but I didn't have a chance to get their in time.

Went to Sacramento RiverCats (A's) @ Tucson Sidewinders (D-Backs)
Got these RiverCats: Chris Snelling, JJ Fermaniak, Jeremy Brown, Dan Meyer, Daric Barton, Kurt Suzuki. Brown signed my copy of MONEYBALL and we chatted for a minute or 2... He's one heck of a nice guy.
BTW, all these guys, except for Barton will sign TTM. (Barton is kind of a jerk)

Barton's an idiot. He said he would sign here in LV. I had a card and an index card, but I gave him the index first and he said no, then I said, "Can you still do the card" he said, "You already ruined your chances."

That sounds about right. He was very relunctant to even acknowledge me. All of the other players were cool as hell and even took a minute or 2 to chat. When Barton signed the card, he sort of rolled his eyes when I said "Thank you, I appreciate it."

Went to my local SABR chapters summer meeting at McCoy Stadium yesterday. Got three autographs, from three folks that came by to talk with us:
Dick Beradino - Long time Red Sox minor league coach, exectutive, and consultant. Former minor league outfielder in the 1950's. Mr. Beradino gave a great chat and was very friendly and nice to chat with. (scan (http://www.baseball-trivia-game.com/ttm/players/berardino.htm))

I didn't notice this thread before, so here are my successes this year...
Spring training success: Rick Langford, Hector Torres, Tom Filer..all baseball card blowups. Ben Zobrist and Brooks Badeaux...photos from 2005 IBAF World Cup. Hee Seop-Choi photo from World Baseball Classic. Brett Roneberg. blowup of him as a Portland Sea Dog and from 2204 Olympics. Carlos Pena pic from 2006 in Boston
Red Sox players (from minor league games @ Orioles & Pirate minor league camps) (all blowups) : Matt van Der Bosch (Portland pic), Craig Breslow (Red Sox pic), Kason Gabbard (Red Sox), Jacoby Ellsbury (Portland pic), David Bacani (Portland pic), Dusty Brown (Portland pic), Luis Jimenez (Portland pic), David Murphy (Portalnd and Red Sox posed pics), Brandon Moss (Portland pic), barry Hertzler (Wilmington Blue Rock pic), Zach Borowiak (Portland pic), and Adam Blackley (two pics from Intercontinetal Cup pitching for Australia)
Legends Of Baseball in Clearwater March 25: Mudcat Grant signed 8x10 blowups of his 65 and 72 Topps cards. Dick Drago signed copies of his 70 and 78 Topps cards
4/15 Lakeland Tigers @ Clearwater Threshers. Larry Herndon signed blown up copies of his 79 and 87 Topps cards
5/19 Had IP success at the Threshers/Sarasota Reds game. Brad Komminsk (Threshers coach) 2/2 8x10 blowups of his '86 O-Pee-Chee and '90 Topps cards; Ryan Jackson (Sarasota coach) 2/2 8x10 blowups of his '98 Donruss and Upper Deck cards and Brad Harman (Phillies prospect) 3/3 8x10 blowups of him playing for Australia in last fall's XIV IBAF Intercontinental Cup.
5/28 Jeff Jones (Tigers bullpen coach) Tigers/Rays game. Signed blowups of his Topps '81 and '84 cards; personalized one. I was hoping to get Leyland, Van Slyke, McClendon and Belliard (staff) but I was at wrong end of dugout :(
6/3Clearwater (Phillies) hosting Palm Beach (Cardinals). All are blowups of cards.
Brad Komminsk (Clearwater coach): Fleer '90
Steve Dillard (PB coach): Topps ’78, ’79, ‘81
Derek Lilliquist (PB pitching coach): Donruss ’90, Fleer ’90, Topps ‘91
PB manager Gaylen Pitts was kidding me about how I didn't have anything of his to sign. Not sure if any cards of him exist. I've yet to see any.
6/10 Dunedin Blue Jays @ Tampa Yankees.
Darold Knowles (Dunedin pitching coach): Topps '70, '72, '73
Luis Sojo (Tampa manager):Topps '90. '91
While Knowles was signing, some of his players were looking at the card blowups and laughing; they'd never seen old pics of their pitching coach. A few kidded Knowles about the mustache on his '73 card, that he should grow it back. Knowles said that his mustache would be mostly gray "like yours" he said as he pointed at me. I told Knowles that I was "only" 50 and he groaned.
That's half the fun of it...getting the guys from the 60s, 70s and 80s who are now coaches/managers in the minors to sign and seeing the young players razz them about how they used to look.
Note on the Sojo cards..they were Blue Jay cards and he was managing against a Blue Jay farm team.

today went to the pirates brewers game at pnc
Claudio Vargas- omlb and team watermark
Kevin Mench-card
Johnny Estrada-card
Geoff Jenkins-team watermark
Tony Graffanino-team watermark
Dennis Martinez used to hold celebrity softball games in Miami, I would say there were like 3 or 4 in total, from 99-01/02, to benefit poor communities in Latin America, the following signed their baseball cards for me:
-Orlando "El Duke" Hernandez, Rey Ordoρez, Magglio Ordoρez, Placido Polanco, Wilson Alvarez, Dennis Martinez, and John Rocker.
The following, I didnt know were going to be there, so I didnt have their cards on me  and they signed index cards:
-Alex Rodriguez, Pudge Rodriguez, Pedro Guerrero, Cookie Rojas, Mark Kotsay, Alex Arias and Tony Fernandez.
-Tony Perez signed a 16x20 Hall of Fame induction poster
In different Marlins events, I've gotten the baseball cards signed by the following:
-Mike Lowell, Luis Castillo, Alex Gonzalez, Braden Looper, Mike Redmond, Jeremy Hermida, Josh Willingham, Reggie Abercrombie, Juan Pierre, Tod Hollandsworth, Blaine Neal, and Tony Taylor.
I also got a 22x34 2003 WS Champions poster signed by:
-Mike Lowell, Dontrelle Willis, Juan Pierre, Alex Gonzalez, Mike Redmond, Tim Spooneybarger, Blaine Neal, and owner Jeffrey Loria.
I used to work in a building next to Florida International University's baseball stadium, like a month before Spring Training, some big leaguers start working out there in the mornings, I would sneak out of work, and I got the following baseball cards signed:
-Danys Baez, Alex Sanchez, Preston Wilson, and Ruben Sierra.

IP at the Ft. Myers Miracle @ Clearwater Threshers. Jim Dwyer (Miracle coach) signed 8x10 blowups of his Donruss & Fleer '81 cards.
Was hoping to get Eric Rasmussen (Miracle pitching coach) to sign copies of his cards but i missed him. I may TTM those, but given my streak of non-luck with TTMs, I may wait on those. Tom Gordon was on rehab w/Clearwater, in fact he was the starter fot teh Threshers and I may have to TTM with him as well.

Don't bother trying to get Eric Rasmussen to sign a card. He refuses. I had a card and asked him to sign it and he said "no, I don't sign cards," but offered to sign a ball or glove instead.
I remember it was a 1984 Topps card. Maybe he's just anti-Topps.
By the way, I used to attend many Clearwater games in the 90's. That's where the majority of my autographs were obtained. I have since moved out of state, but have come back to visit and checked out a Thresher's game. What a great stadium!

I'm debating whether to go to to the game there tonight and try again with Rasmussen. If I ask him to *personalize* it may work. This kid from my "homeland" is pitching tonight and I want to see him pitch.
Funny thing. One of the card blowups is his 94 Topps card (Royals); other is his 81 Fleer card (Padres). Think it'll help of I tell him I also thought Vern Rapp was a <bleep>? ;)
You're right about Bright House Stadium. Great place to watch a game. Only wish they'd rename it (their cable service...don't get me started...)
IP today...Carlos Pena of the Devil Rays @ a Checkers around the corner from me. Didn't know he was appearing there until I saw the sign announcing he was going to be there. He already signed a 8x10 of him in a Sox uniform, so I went online and found a posed pic of him in a Tiger uniform. Got it printed out and I went and got it signed
Great guy...he's from MA like I am..personalized it for me as well.
Don't have a scanner but here is what he signed for me.

My most recent IP was Mike Piazza at Shea, the first Oakland game of the series after he did some batting practice he started signing in the left field corner and walked all the way down to the dugout. It's not a very neat looking autograph. He signed most stuff with a black ballpoint and its on a panel. It was my 3rd Piazza, so I'm not to upset. I have it on a shelf above my desk in the office.
Out of about 400 auto's I have, 90% are IP's. I would never buy an auto from anyone. The other 10% are insert cards, which I guess are supposed to be authetic and auto's that where gifts.

Had a nice day @ Judy Johnson night in Wilmington. Got all of the Negro Leaguers that were there plus picked up a nice 8x10 of a deceased Negro Leaguer from the Judy Johnson foundation. The Negro Leaguers were SUPER! They signed for the entire 9 innings and signed whatever people put in front of them. All they were asking for were voluntary donations.
I also got Lynchburg manager Jeff Brunson on an index card (he asked me what I was going to do with it, I told him that I had no cards on it and that he could personalize it).
Then at the East Coast National I got Feller on a ball, HOF Plaque and Bob Feller allstar program.

I had a GREAT weekend.
Friday started out with the Newark Eagles reunion at Newark Bears / Eagles stadium. For those of you that do not know, the Newark Bears were the Negro League franchise of the Negro National League from 1936-1948. They provided the city of Newark with some of the greatest baseball players EVER, including Hall of Famers Biz Mackey, Willie Wells, Mule Suttles, Leon Day, Monte Irvin, Ray Dandrige, Larry Doby and owner Effa Manley. They started the festivities with a street naming ceremony where they named streets after legendary Eagles players. We then moved on to the stadium where they inducted some of New Jersey's finest into their Ring of Honor. They players were later honored at a reception at the New Jersey Historical Society and then the stadium.
I received autographs from all four players that attended: Monte Irvin, Willie "Curley" Williams, James "Red" Moore and Billy Felder. They were all generous with their autographs and time, more than willing to share their rich baseball stories, as all the men are over 80, Irvin is 88 and Moore is 90. Irvin signed the books I had and a few cards. The other players all signed my books and photos I had.
Saturday had me at the Yankee fan fest at Lincoln Center. I got there about 15 minutes before the doors opened and the line size at that time itself was manageable, but the organizers ran the line so poorly that it took us over two hours to move 100 feet. The players weren't signing as advertised in the 1-2 hour blocks, they were being rotated in and out every 30 minutes between the autograph table and photograph booth. The players that appeared were Graig Nettles, Mickey Rivers, Jim Leyritz and Don Larsen. Most of the people wanted Larsen's autograph and were getting antsy because the line was moving slowly and that they wouldn't get his autograph. I wound up getting all 4 players through a stretch of luck and good timing. When I was getting close, one of the security guards asked everyone who they were waiting for (because many of the people in line were stalling hoping that Larsen would come back to the table). When they all said Larsen, he went over to the photo booth to see if Larsen would switch out with someone at the table. While that was going on, barely anyone was going up to the table to get autographs. I went up and got Leyritz and Mickey Rivers and then went right back to my friends who were like 20 spots back in line as nobody said anything to me. They then proceeded to switch out Leyritz and Rivers with Nettles and Larsen. My turn came again and I got Nettles and Larsen. I asked Larsen to personalize my ball with 10-8-56 and he said he wouldn't because my ball was made in China (I had an official Atlantic League ball because I got a brand new one when I was at the Newark Bears game from a friend of mine who plays on the time). I thought that was funny. Larsen did answer my question about being a teammate of Satchel Paige during his rookie season with the Browns, saying that Paige was a good teammate.
I stuck around the Yankee fest to take some hacks at the batting cage and then I went home and collapsed from being out there for about 4 hours between the waiting in line, autographs and checking out the booths.
It was a fun weekend overall and I met some nice people.

Bobby Shantz Day @ Pottstown HS
Today they dedicated the new baseball field @ Pottstown HS to Bobby Shantz. Shantz was the 1952 AL MVP, won numerous gold gloves as a pitcher, 3 time all-star, etc etc. They had some of his former teammates and contemporaries there to honor him as well.
Also attending were: Mickey Vernon, Virgil Trucks, Ned Garver, Gus Zernial, Lou Brissie, Carl Scheib, and Spook Jacobs. All of the men were very generous with their autographs for anyone who asked.
Shantz signed 2 photos, 2 Topps Archives cards and an index card. He posed for photos and engaged in conversation with everyone in line. He answered my question about how he had to play CF for one game for the Yankees, (Mickey Mantle had to leave for the Ed Sullivan show) and of course, the first ball put in play got hit to him. He was asking everyone what inscription they wanted on their items (52 AL MVP, struck out 3 batters in a row in the 1952 All-Star game, etc etc). A true class act from a baseball great.
I also got to speak at length with Lou Brissie, Carl Scheib, Mickey Vernon, Ned Garver and Virgil Trucks. All of them had great stories and were rather vivid with their explanations. I didn't realize that most of these men had served in the armed forces. The last generation of baseball players that had to be drafted into war.
I got the rest of them on index cards and Zernial on a photo with Shantz. A really nice day. I didn't know Vernon or Scheib were going to be there or I would have brought some of their cards.

I have season tickets to AAA Salt Lake Bees (Angels affiliate) first row above the 3rd base dugout which happens to be the visiting team. When I take my son, we always arrive when the gates open. My son loves to talk shop with all the players. Most players are great and interact with my son, Barton on the other hand has a grudge like no other ball player. He wants nothing to do with the general public. Nice going Barton

That's cool! I met Gaetti outside the Kingdome in Seattle back in 1990. The Blue Angels jet demonstration team were performing a show that same day, and they were buzzing the Kingdome showing off. To make a long story short, I climbed on top of the ticket booths to get a better a view... When I got up on the roof 2 guys had beat me to the prime spot- Gary Gaetti and Kent Hrbek. Both guys were hilarious and very nice to us... So we sat up there for about 15 minutes and watched the show.

How early do I have to get to a Spring Trainning game if I want to get some autos?
I'd guess as soon as the gates open, or earlier, if there's a "fan access" area along the fences around the players' parking lot. I assume that since you're a Marlins fan you're referring to Roger Dean Stadium. I've never been there for ST, just Hammerhead games when I was living on that side of the state.
As for minor league ST games, they almost always start at 1 pm, although it can't hurt to call ahead. Two years ago a BoSox/O's AAA/AA meeting of the squads got bumped up to 11 am at the last minute and I got there at about 1:30...after everybody had left. It's very loose at the minor league complexes and although you obviously can't go right behind the benches, players and coaches are walking around between the fields and you can usually get sigs easily. At the very least, you may be told they'll sign after a game, which they will do, but most will sign between half-innings.
Good luck!
Thanks for all the tips, I'm going to go see the Marlins indeed, but not at Roger Dean Stadium, they play the Orioles at Ft Lauderdale Stadium on Saturday, I'll tell you all about it on Sunday/Monday..

I know Lauderdale Stadium..I lived down the road in Tamarac. For getting stuff from visiting teams (Marlins) there should be a fence with a opening for players to sign near their bus. Since it's the Marlins, expect a mob scene there.

I dont know if I'll be able to be there that early, to catch them getting off the bus, I was hoping to get some during pre game warm ups...

My uncle gave me an 8x12 of Butch Huskey, I'm guessing it's worth anywhere from $.05-$5.00, is that about right?
At the Orioles minor league camp in Sarasota (Red Sox AAA/AA vs Orioles AAA/AA teams)
8 x 10 Card blowups:
Gary Allenson: Topps '81, Donruss '82
Alex Arias: Topps '93
Larry Jaster: Topps '68, '69. '70
Scott McGregor: Topps '84
Russ Morman: Topps '87
Dave Schmidt: Upper Deck '90, '91
Oriole minor league players were kidding Jaster as he signed. "You still look the same, coach." Jaster was telling me that a lot of the players he coaches had no idea he played in the bigs or played in a few World Series or even knew who Bob Gibson was.
(Allenson's cards were of him in a BoSox uniform and of course he now coaches in the O's system)
8 x 10s of Red Sox minor league players:
Jay Johnson
George Kottaras
Edgar Martinez
John Otness
Chad Spann
All photos except Otness are in Prtland Sea Dog unis. Otness is in a Red Sox jersey.

Ray Searage: Topps '86, Fleer '90. Searage laughed as he saw his '86 card and said I must be a glutton for punishment for having that card. Some of the playesr were snickering at the cards as well. That's the fun part..seeing how the players of today react when they see the cards of their now-coaches.

Last night, April 11th, my wife and I went to the Durham Bulls Opening Day game against the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees. It was the first time we had been to Durham Athletic Park. What a beautiful stadium that keeps the Minor League feel. Prior to the game, my wife and I stopped at Mellow Mushroom, a pizza place across the street from the DAP, for a quick drink and some pizza. While sitting at the bar, we started talking to the guy sitting next to us, who turned out to be Darrell Rasner's father. Rasner was starting for SWB and pitched 6 strong innings for the win.
While the stadium was beautiful, I was disappointed with the signing habits of the Bulls prior to game time. Many simply walked by without looking up. I was able to get the following:
Xavier Hernandez, pitching coach - Perhaps one of the nicest people I've gotten an autograph from.
Jon Weber
John Rodriguez
Both Evan Longoria and Jeff Niemann were called up to Tampa Bay prior to the game and weren't around.

If you are going to get autographs from the Bulls, inside the stadium is not the place. Of course if you had waited until tonight, it is Autograph Saturday where you can get autographs from anyone and everyone. During the season, if you are trying to get autographs, you need to get to the park at approximately 2:30 P.M. The Bulls' players enter the park up the street to the right of the main entrance. There is a sign that says "Players Entrance". You can stand near that area and get anyone and everyone. They are always very cordial and I have never been turned down by any Bulls' player. I got Longoria and Niemann both on the street last year before a game.
The Durham Bulls Athletic Park is one of the most beautiful parks in the minors. I love that entire atmosphere around the park. It is a beautiful setting!!!

On a side note, they had a home run derby before the game at New Bridge Bank Park in Greensboro. Burgess hit a home run off the facade of a building across the street in right center field. He also hit a home run almost to center field that hit the second stop light on the Lindsay Street exit post.

Its hard to explain and depending on my mood, i'll explain it different ways.
What i'll do is take a photo and in Photoshop (i use a linux equivalent) and contrast them fully, so the outlines stand out.
I'll trace? the edges onto a paper in pencil straight off my laptop screen. I'll ink the edges from there, and then shade in what needs to be shaded with different length strokes.
So, everything inside the outlines is me.. the outline is cooomputer.
The Gimp, and i'm assuming photoshop too, has a great tool called ink pen which gives you a rough estimate of where the lines need to go. I'd probably trace more if i didn't fear destroying my laptop screen.
I'm not really that artistic -- I'm just good at faking it.
In other news: I got Bronson Arroyo today! (after he gave up 10 Runs in 1 inning yesterday -- crazy!)

Today John Maine had a free in store at a PC Richard's in Queens. In the paper it was advertised that he would not sign any outside memorabilia, but only the Sharp Electronics Picture Card that was provided by the store. I figured I'd go anyway and get the free photo signed. I got there about an hour early and there were TWO people waiting. As it got closer to signing time, there were 6 of us. He showed up early and started signing right away.
The free photo turned out to be some sort of promo trading card with an action shot on it. Nobody brought any baseball cards or photos, but a few people brought baseballs and he signed them. Once I saw this, I took a walk over to the nearest Modell's and I bought a Major League Baseball to have him sign. I got back to the store and there was nobody waiting and he signed it on the sweet spot. He signed everything put in front of him, as some of the store employees had a few baseballs for management.
I didn't have any of his cards in my collection, or I would have brought them just in case because sometimes these ads say "no outside memorabilia" to scare off the dealers. I think it did in this case because maybe 30 people showed up outside of the store employees. It also helped that school was still in session here in NYC. I was on vacation visiting my family up here, so that's how I found out about it.
He was really nice, shook hands with everyone, took photos and cracked a few jokes here and there. I wish more players were as pleasant as him. It beats paying the $35 steiner is getting for him tonight at the Last Licks store.

It was in Louisville. There were a couple of guys yelling in the dugout at players like no ones buisness and that really annoyed me. I went over there because Danny Graves was actuay kind of enough to sign for the idiots and went to give him a card and as soon as I did he walked away. Same thing happened with Humber and Ryan Jorgenson is a "better than you" type of person like he was in Louisville.

Anyone in particular either good or bad for signing on the braves?

Francoeur and Escobar are ones to look out for. Francoeur signs a ton typically. I have gotten him many times at home and once at an away game. If you ask, he probably will. Lots of players probably won't really do much. Tex and McCann are players who occasionally sign. Good luck. Let's hope this series doesn't turn out like the 92 series did. :)

Cox keeps pretty much to himself during the regular season from what I've seen. You might be lucky to see him walking around before or after the game. But I hear he signs quite frequently on his way out of the stadium after games.

Saturday night (6-28-08) I went to a New Hampshire FisherCats game, sought of.
They where supposed to be playing New Britain RockCats
My goal was to get as many players from each team on a ball and get Travis Snider and Brett Cecil on there own OMLB's.
On the FisherCats ball I got:
Daryl Harang (Bro of Aaron Harang)
Brian Jeroloman
Kyle Phillips
Chris Gutierrez
Ryan Patterson (Baseball America has him as Ranked 10th among Jays Prospects)
and was able to get Travis Snider (Ranked #1 Jays Prospect) to sign a ball on SS for me.:dance
Then the sky opened up, we hung around for about an hour and left.
They played a DH the next day. But, I was at the Nascar Race all day.

As always the orioles are the best ball club ever for signing autographs....
Brian roberts signed an Upper Deck card in silver ink which...after a day of drying still smudged
Adam Jones signed a photograph in silver ink which after a day of drying... smudged in the holder
Jeremy Guthrie signed a photograph in silver ink which after a day of drying.. smudged in the holder
Kevin millar signed a baseball.. thank god not in silver freakin ink. The pen however stopped working and we had to borrow a pen.
Note to self: Silver ink = BAD. Its made by the same company that makes my favourite gold paint pen, but for some ****** up reason, it takes a year to dry.

Steve Dalkowski, 4/4 during my interview. Mike D., Madhatter, PM me for the cards I promised you. Tony, I only brought four cards (one short...I felt bad) and you got one TTM from Steve recently, so I figured the next time I visit him (and there will be a next time) I'll make up for it with a signed AL ball or a signed 1963 Topps card (your choice).
Some pics to follow in the next post (signed in black gel pen...was the only thing I had, but looks great!). BTW, small preview on my article: Steve's pitch selection was wider than I thought. He showed me all the grips and I was quite impressed. He threw a four-seamer (his heater), a two-seamer that wasn't as fast he mixed in with men on, a slider (the grip was remarkably similar to Steve Carlton's grip...it broke low and in on a lefty batter), a changeup (BP fastball, but it was so slow compared to his fastball that it worked as a "surprise" pitch), and he toyed with a slow curve that he said gave Earl Weaver fits when he threw it.

I had to ask about Graves. When I met him, he was wearing these olive green skateboarder shorts that were faded with holes in them. He had a chain that connected to his wallet, and he had piercings in his chin. I totally didn't recognize him. I did the Petco Park ballpark tour today. Before I left this morning I debated with myself whether or not to bring cards. I always carry an assortment of pens and index cards no matter where I go, just in case. You never know! I finally convinced myself to bring along a 2008 Upper Deck Pieces of History Padres card with Jake Peavy, Chris Young, Greg Maddox, and Mark Prior. So we're in the dugout and while the tour guide is telling us about the dugouts, the grass, bullpens, phones, etc. out walks Chris Young from the clubhouse! Chris stopped, chatted with our group, posed for pictures, and since I was the only one with a trading card, he signed for me. A nice unexpected auto!!!
One down four to go! Mark Prior will be the tough one as Peavy and Maddox have been good signers in the past.

I've been on a tear recently, going to three different New York Penn League stadiums in one week. (Vermont, Batavia, and Auburn). My brother lives in Vermont, so we went to a game when I was visiting, I go to about one Batavia game a weeks, as it is close to where I live, and I made the trip to Auburn because a graduate of my high school who was drafted by the Astros was pitching that night (graduating classes at my high school are around 100, so it's a pretty big deal to us). I try to get at least my ticket autographed at every game, and have really gotten into photography in the last few months. I'm getting better every time, and feel like I've come a long way considering I've never taken so much as an art class since middle school.

Yea, they are pretty hard to get. I was lucky to get Byrdak's. The team usually signs at Milwaukee, but since they didn't take batting practice it was a no go. The Brewers always sign, but of course a hot home team will be hard to get so I just got Ned Yost's. Their reporter was in the stands by us and complimented my sister's sun glasses then signed things for people within the area.

I used to get autos all the time in Seattle. Typically I'd be at the hotels around 2-3PM on days where games started at 7PM. Most of the players would get to the ballpark around 3:30 or so. Starting pitchers would be there around noon or 1PM from what I saw.

I used to get autos all the time in Seattle. Typically I'd be at the hotels around 2-3PM on days where games started at 7PM. Most of the players would get to the ballpark around 3:30 or so. Starting pitchers would be there around noon or 1PM from what I saw.
Thanks for the help I'm going to be trying it for the first time on Friday outside of the Dodgers' hotel in San Francisco.

I'm starting to run out of Muckdogs to get autographs from. I guess that is a good thing. I still need a couple of their pitchers and a few players to have the entire roster, minus a couple that got called up early that I missed.

If you don't mind me asking, what hotel do the Dodgers stay at while in San Francisco? Anyone know of any other teams use in other cities? I've heard of three hotels in San Diego but have never tried any of them out. I do know the NFL hotel under contract here in San Diego which all the visiting teams stay at.

They stay at the Hotel Nikko. Sometimes a team's media guide will tell you where they stay, and it just so happens that the Giants' tells me where all their opponents stay. You can find every team's online media guide here (http://pressbox.mlb.com/pressbox/media_guides/index.jsp)

Eddie Joost was appearing at the Philadelphia A's Museum in Hatboro, PA. He signed 2 8x10 and was really pleasant about it. All of us can only help to be in the shape that he is in at 92. Strong handshake and steady stride. He seemed happy to be giving out his autograph.

Yesterday before the Pawsox game at McCoy Stadium in Pawtucket, RI, the team had it's annual poster night / autograph session. It went from 5-6 before the 7:05 game. It was my first time attending the event, and it was a blast.
The place was jamming, but they did a good job of keeping things moving and keeping everyone happy. They had a strict "one auto per person" rule, which was fine...I had a few dup cards, so I gave them to kids who were waiting in line near me. That made me quite popular.
They had tables set up alll around the warning track, with 2-3 player per table. I have gotten a lot of the Pawsox TTM, so I was trying to fill in the gaps, jumping from place to place.
I ended up getting 10 autographs in an hour, not a bad take at all. This included top prospect Michael Bowden, catchers George Kottaras and Dusty Brown (neither of whom sign TTM), pitchers Jon Switzer, Jose Vaguedano, Michael Tejera, and Beau Vaughan (of whom I'd only had Vaughan previously), infielders Keith Ginter and Joe Thurston (I didn't have either of them either), and outfielder Jonathan Van Every (who I already had gotten TTM).
The only guys I didn't get who I'd like to have gotten are Charlie Zink, who I didn't expect to be there after pitching for Boston the day before (but who I got TTM last year) and Chris Carter, who I didn't have a card of, as I'd sent them to him TTM a few weeks ago.

I'm not sure there's much of a corralation between a player's pleasantness and their willingness to sign TTM, but both seemed nice at the signing. I've tried both multiple times TTM though, with no luck, and I've never seen any successes from them. It was good to get them IP!

Coach Nelson Liriano didn't sign before the game and didn't come out the few minutes I waited after the game. Almost every player that was asked, I saw sign autographs. There weren't that many people asking for autographs that had actually cards of the players.

I went to the Phillies @ Padres game last night at Petco Park. Wow the Phillies were not in a good signing mood last night! I've been to only a few Phillies games and never really tried them to know their tendencies. Last night, from the time batting practice started (4:40pm) until game time (7:05pm) a total of two players signed. Luckily I was able to get them both.
I got Pat Burrell on a Bowman card. Very nice guy and accomodated as many fans as he could. He was also throwing jokes out that were hilarious! One guy asked Burrell to sign Coste's book, and Burrell said, "It amazes me, Coste can't read, how can he write a book?" As Burrell was finishing up he told an usher he was signing only six more so the usher cleared everyone out and just kept six fans there. A woman yelled out, "If I don't get your autograph my husband is going to kill me!" Burrell replied, "Wow! You have some maritial problems lady!"
As the Phillies batting practice was finishing up, Burrell was the only signer to that point. Heck, the Phils didn't even throw balls into the stands, throwing them back to the infield instead! But just as he was finishing up batting practice and heading into the clubhouse Ryan Howard stopped and signed for those willing to toss items to him over the dugout and into the field. Howard signed for a while, not as long as Burrell though.
So not a bad night, Pat Burrell signed card and Ryan Howard on a ROMLB.

A great in-person success today...Mike Schmidt!
I guess he's working with some drug company going around to minor league parks to get the word out about BPH, some "old guys who pee too much" disease the drug company had invented (along with it's cure) recently.
I was actually surprised how short the line was for his autograph, I left my seat, got his autograph, and was back sitting down in less than 10 minutes.
He was strictly signing one-per-person, and he'd only sign the "card" the drug company provided. I'd brought an 1983 Donruss card hoping to get that signed, but I'll take a HOF signaure any way I can get it. The "card" was really a 4" x 6" cardboard sleeve with drug information inside. Tougher to store than a regular card, but again, I'll take what I can get.

Kevin Baez 91 Line Drive (Tidewater Tides) and 2003 Choice (Long Island Ducks). Signed w/Fading Black Sharpie. Looks Ok. Kevin played for 13 yrs in the Mets system. He played 63 games in the Majors. Also had short stints in the Detroit, Baltimore and Cinci Organizations.
Rob Sandora 2007 Choice (Potomac Nationals). Rob is a local product who played a few years in A ball for the Expos/Nationals.
Ray Navarrete, The promotion was a back to school. They gave out spiral notebooks with Ray's photo on it. Signed w/Silver Sharpie. Ray was a Pirate and Met farm hand.
Buddy Harrelson on a Mets Ice Cream Helmet. Buddy added 69 Champs.Got ruined though. Some of the auto rubbed off. Maybe I'll go back tommorrow night. Buddy is the best. He signs for 45 minutes before every game.

I usually get a couple in the Red Wings dugout before the game starts. After the game, I wait where the players leave the stadium (right next to the ticket booth) and get autos there. You have to wait up to an hour sometimes to get all the players you want. Some players come out very shortly after the game, others take longer. I may be going to that game on Saturday as well.

That really stinks man. I got to the game at probably quarter past six and saw a huge crowd standing outside of the visitors dugout, so I decided to get a few autos from the Red Wings dugout. I got Bobby Kielty, who hadn't ever signed for me before, and Trevor Plouffe signed today's Rochester Democrat & Chronicle sports page, of which he is on the cover.
After the game, I went around behind the stadium to where the Yankee's busses were to see if I could get some players. One after another, Kei Igawa, Melky Cabrera, Shelley Duncan, Phil Hughes, and Ian Kennedy all walked by and didn't sign one thing for anyone. I probably could have done better if I had tried to get some Wings auto's but taking a chance is better than nothing. Nick Green and Ben Broussard did stop to sign, so that was a nice consolation, but none of the Yankee's AAA "stars" took the time.

I got two last night at the Louisville Bats and Durham Bulls playoff game at the Durham Bulls Athletic Park.
I score Matt Maloney before the game in the dugout on an 8 X 10 photograph.
Then after the game, I caught none other than Homer Bailey coming out of the stadium and he signed my 12 X 18 poster print of him pitching last year in Durham. I told him that if he needed to personalize it, I was okay with that because I am not selling it anyway. A lot of players are reluctant to sign poster prints even if it is your personal photography. He obliged. It was much different than the first time that I met him when he was not very friendly.

I think homer may be going through the point in his career where he realizes that all the talent in the world isn't enough in major league baseball. I hope he gets through it, its a tough conversion going from never having to work to working every day and i hope he gets through it. I'm sure he's been brought down a peg or two, maybe even humbled, based on his latest major league stint.

Or, like everyone else, he has good days and bad days. I've heard the Josh Phelps is the nicest guy in the world when you ask him for a signature, yet 4 years ago when I requested one he was abrupt and rude.

4 years ago josh phelps probably was having a hard time dealing with the fact that he really was never going to be as great as people told him he'd be.
Just kidding, i know what you're saying and i think its something people overlook.

I think that you are probably right about Homer. He has had a tough time of it the last year or so. He still has a bit of an ego. I really hope that he can get things together. As a Reds' fan, we really need him to reach his potential and become an anchor on that pitching staff. I don't think that Dick Pole is the man to show him the ropes. I wish that the Reds would promote Ted Power to the big club as he seems to have good luck with these pitchers.
