Remember the good old days when Opening DAY was a DAY GAME?And when the Washington Senators opened for the AMERICAN LEAGUE every year -- and the President of the USA threw out the first pitch?
Those traditions are gone now. Cincinnati still hosts the NL Opener -- but it is a NIGHT GAME. And Washington still has a Major League but now in the National League -- and not the host for the MLB opener.
I think we lost some traditions here.
But most of the team openers today are day games. When school kids can skip a day of school, business men can take a sick day, and everyone basks in the sun of warm spring day -- watching the faceoff of two good pitchers (top starter in each team's rotation). Great day for all!
