Since on base% occurs over all of a players plate appearances, but slugging only occurs over the players at-bats, what about weighing them by PA's and Slg%? That way the real big OB% can "wash out" a less good slugging percentage over a few PA's.

Just wondering. I know that some feel that OB% gets a little less than its share in OPS+ because it is harder to put up an incredible relative OB%.

Granted, the whole point of OPS+ was that it is pretty quick and simple.

(OBP * 1.6) + SLG , and then adjust for league and park.

That's been a number I've seen that tries to even it out.

I like the general idea behind this, trying to even it out. I'm not sure if that's the correct weight for it, but I have seen it used that way before.
