This summer, My Japanese fiance' and I will be visiting America, and my New York / Connecticut family.

We're considering a day trip to Coney Island, and a Cyclones game at Keyspan Park (Mets minor league affilate), where the Brooklyn Dodgers Museum is located. Perhaps we'll drive from Connecticut.

Has anyone been to these places RECENTLY? Can you offer any comments or advice?

Thank you.

Hello Bay Ridger,

I think you'll have a great time at Keyspan & in Brooklyn if you go during the summer. I traveled through the borough in January and vowed to get back when the weather turned nicer.

Keyspan is a great place to see a game, with the Dodger musuem and the ocean in the background just beyond the outfield stands. The amusement parks will be in full swing, Nathan's is still open just down the block, there is the nearby Aquarium, and the dinner/luncheon yachts you could take for a rather picturesque view of Coney Island from the water. The whole Coney Island area is in a rebirth, and is now very accessible off the Belt Parkway. If you drive from Connecticut it will probably take you 60-90 minutes depending on traffic and where you're leaving from.

The museum has some great photos and artifacts of the Brooklyn Dodgers.
They had a copy (or real one) of the 1955 Championship banner when I went there two years ago.
They had a few seats from Ebbets Field, equipment and uniforms from various
players. I was fortunate to get in there and see it all by myself. Make sure you check before you go to see if they are open for viewing.
I understand that the Stillwell station has been fixed up right down the street from there. Nathans is always a good bet!

Outstanding stadium and museum.....was there in the summer. The place can get real cool after sunset as it's right on the ocean. Go early and get a good parking spot. Walk along the avenue and sample Nathan's and the clam bar right next to it. The food in and out of the stadium is outstanding....And, of course, go on some of the rides!!!!!!!!
Before games a player from the Cyclones will have a Q&A w/kids in the museum.
