can anyone let me know how he is doing this spring?
Is there still talk of him getting the left field spot?

1 for 6, .167 His OBP on the other hand is .444 because he has three BB. At this point, LF and CF appear to be up in the air; Nook Logan is hitting a blistering .083 (2 for 12).

I think he's going to be a fixture in the lineup for a while. He seems to have good patience at the plate.

As long as he doesn't fall in love with the long ball, he'll be fine. He had a tendency last year in Harrisburg to swing for the fences which resulted in his BA dropping. When he swings the bat well, he is capable of hitting home runs naturally. However, there are times he tries to put his team up by six runs with one swing. Otherwise, I agree, from what I saw last season in Harrisburg, that he will be a fixture for many years to come.

Good patience, to go 0-for-5 and to strand 3 runners in scoring position last night...

Gotta start somewhere  . He'll be good, just give him time. Very few players are successful when they first come up. You have to realize that he has about 10AB's in the major leagues. Give him time, he'll come around.

I agree, we should give him time, that is perfectly normal, but don't stink him in the lineup as the 2nd batter, I would rather see somebody else there, he should be 7th, 8th... not 2nd!

maay be so, but without Johnson in the lineup there is noone else to bat 2nd.

With Chris Snelling (#8) suddenly so hot, Manny Acta has named him as starting left fielder at least until Nook Logan returns from the D/L.
Kory Casto is Columbus (AAA) bound, I think. Manny seems to feel that he needs some more seasoning there, and it's hard to argue with that assessment.

Yeah, Kory is probably heading to AAA, but it's important not to judge him on this performance. The Kory we saw was a AA player in the majors and that's never good.

Which raises the question, what is the lineup with Logan back if Snelling and Church are still hitting?

Well, it's off to Columbus for Kory, and that's a good thing. He'll play every day, and get more experience. Maybe we'll see him back in Sept, or sooner.

id be willing to bet sooner. Church, Snelling, or Nook will be traded sometime this season to make room for him in the OF.

If they really wanted to make room for him, they would've waived Church or Snelling in ST, but instead they sent him down because they didn't want to do so.
They got Nook because they needed someone like him.
