I was just ten at the time and though born in Brooklyn never actually lived there. Thus I didn't have some of the emotional baggage that other people had/have on this issue. I did lose interest in them once all the Brooklyn Dodgers were gone from the team, though.

As I was only eight when they left, it didn't have the impact on me that it had on my father. He simply couldn't quit and remained a Dodgers fan and I remain rootin to this day.

I didn't grow up in Brooklyn, but the Dodgers were my team of choice beginning in 1951 as a 7 year old. By 1956 I lived in AL cities until I moved to Atlanta in 1972. The Dodgers were still my team up until the early 80s when I finally let them go and began routing for the Braves.

I was 14, heartbroken and felt bitterness at the team for jilting us all.

Tried to root for the Phillies for a while, but that did not last.

Became an avid Mets fan in 1962.

Eventually, I realized that I'll always be a BROOKLYN Dodgers fan, and no other team would be an acceptable substitute.

Still surprises - and bothers me a bit - to see Brooklynites now wearing Yankee garb.

I was seven when they moved, but was born and raised in Dallas. I feel your pain now, but at the time, all that mattered to me was not getting the box scores in the morning paper because of the time zone difference. The nearest NL team to Dallas then were the Cardinals. I lived for those Saturdays when Pee Wee and ol' Diz had the Dodgers on the Game of the Week.

I am about your age (born 1950) and I sure do remember Pee Wee and Ol' Diz! Go go go for Falstaff!

I was 20. It was impossible to follow any team, because when the Brooks left, baseball died.
