If I get around to it, I'll write a story. Probably some made-up heroics of Hanley Ramirez, but still a story.:D

Really? So he is technically a rookie?

, yea..... but he won't play like one, as he was playing like Europen Baseball or somthin' during the mogul season last year :laugh

in other words, he won't play like a rookie, but like it's his 2nd season, though he will be classified as a rookie.

In other words again, don't set your team back a year because it's new, they have the experience they would of had if they played last season.

Edit: Not all will be this long, but this how far I am...

2007 Marlins Preview
Written by: J.J. Kolstini
The Marlins are probably one of the strangest franchises in baseball history. Originally and expansion team, the Marlins started off with 4 straight losing seasons. The tiny baseball fan base in Miami, Florida did not help them either. Miami is more focused on college football than they are baseball. This results in low payroll for the team. So when they did bring it all together in 1997 and 2003, they had to sell off their team for cheaper, younger players. They did not win the World Series 2 years ago, but nonetheless sold off many of their players the following off season (2005-2006) to reduce the payroll. Unlike their 1998 campaign, these young players did not play like crap in their debut season. They struggled a little bit, but all together they did pretty well for a rookie team, going 78-84. They overall average hitting, but quality pitching (5th in ERA). This may be due to the fact that in Florida, it is very relaxing and little pressure is applied, so it doesn’t “bring down” the rookies.

The Marlins should be one of the more exciting teams this year, as the young players mature and hit their stride.

Hanley Ramirez
Shortstop, 23
Leading off in the 2007 Marlins team is sophomore Hanley Ramirez. Previously the number one prospect in the Red Sox system, Hanley Ramirez hit .292 / .353 / .480 for the Marlins (who he was traded to) last year. He is considered potentially a five tool player. He excels in hitting for average, hitting for power, speed, throwing and fielding.

Hanley Ramirez has shown his offensive prowess last year and it will improve in 2007. Shown above, he hit .292 / .353 / .480 in the pitcher’s friendly Dolphin Stadium. This gives him a 116 OPS+, making him a talented hitter from a fielder’s position. Baseball America showed him as the best hitter for average and best hitter for power in the Red Sox farm system. He also scored a rookie high, 119 runs. This could make him bound to be an exceptional leadoff hitter later in his career.

Ramirez is also good player on the other side of the ball. He has the speed; he stole 51 bases with a 72% clip. He plays some exceptional shortstop with great range. He was given the best defensive infielder, best infield arm, and fastest base runner by Baseball America while he was in the Red Sox farm system.

There is some talk that needs to be stopped though, is his attitude. Some scouts suggest he has a bad attitude, particularly for some incidents of giving obscene gestures to fans when frustrated. He has done none of this in 2005 or in the MLB, so his attitude has definitely changed.

I figure he will improve, since he has gotten used to Major League pitching, pretty much everything increases a little bit more, except stolen bases.

Projection: .300/370/.500
25 HR 100 Runs 50 SB
125 OPS+
