How many no hitters have been thrown in Boston Red Sox history?
Extra Credit: How many of those "no-no's were a perfect game?
Erik Bedard

There have been 17 no-hitters by Boston Red Sox pitchers (18 if you count Devern Hansack's 5-inning no-hitter against the Orioles on the last day of 2006). Only one perfect game, the first no-hitter in Red Sox history, by Cy Young on May 5th, 1904. The Red Sox also hold the claim to two of the most bizarre no-hitters ever. In 1917, Babe Ruth walked one batter, then was ejected from the game for arguing balls and strikes. Ernie Shore then came in, the runner was caught stealing, and none of the opposing hitters got hits. On the second day of the 1992 season, Red Sox pitcher Matt Young tossed a no-hitter against the Cleveland Indians. Now, here's the catch - he didn't win the game. The Red Sox lost 2-1, in large part due to Young's seven walks.

I believe it was Shano Collins, sporting #32 (Shano also wore #31 after that).
Hey Autograph Collector, did those uniform numbers have any significance?
Because Shano Collins managed in 1931, and then was replaced part way thru
the 1932 season. '31 / '32.....coincidence or not?!
