I'm pretty sure that it isn't Henderson, because he only led the AL in hits for 2 years because he led in:

1980 AL-179
1981 AL-135

And that was it.

You can go to Henderson's baseball reference statistic page:

Mikey,

I really mean this to be constructive, but try to make your questions more historically based and less involving numbers and fast facts, like "I had X number of hits" or "I won the Y award in year Z." Maybe I don't speak for everyone, but historical riddles seem a lot more interesting than pop quizzes on statistical lists and award winners.

We had a "Who Am I" thread before where the questions were pretty tough, like the one I wrote. Maybe its just me, but a question where someone asks "who was the person who did XYZ" isn't very interesting or thought-provoking. The questions on the other thread were like the one I wrote; a bunch of seemingly unrelated vague clues that, when put together, make you slowly whittle down the list of guys it could be until only one guy is left. I'll add more:

"During my career, I kept a list of players whom I intended to hit when I faced them, and would sometimes just hit a batter when my manager called for an intentional walk. In my locker there was a picture of my nemesis, one of baseball's great sluggers. My managers were concerned with my command, and rightfully so; I once walked in the run that cost us the pennant, on the last day of the season. We won over 100 games that year and had a 4 game lead on September 22nd but blew it. That offseason I was traded, and the very next year my old team won the World Series... against my new team."

I don't ever remember any of your question though. Do remember in a read that Williams just retired from baseball just last year as a scout or something.

Stan Williams walked in the run that put the Giants ahead for good in the last game of the '62 playoff. Coincidentally, both the Shot Heard Round the World game in 1951 and the clincher in 1962 took place on October 3. He was traded to the Yankees before the 1963 season; the Dodgers swept the Yankees away in the 1963 WS.

He said later, "It never bothered me that much because I gave it all I had and it didn't work out. Had I let up and thrown a half-assed fastball and the guy [Jim Davenport] had gotten a base hit, I never would have forgiven myself. But I walked him at 100 m.p.h., giving my best shot."

Supposedly Williams was offered bonuses for keeping his walks down so he would occasionally just plunk a guy rather than be charged with an intentional walk called from the bench. He also began to throw at people on 3-0.

The nemesis I mentioned was Henry Aaron, who it sounds like Williams just really hated. Baseball-reference shows that Williams only hit Aaron one time but there's a story behind it. Williams had hit Aaron in the helmet, and afterwards walked up to him seemingly to apologize. What he said was "I meant to hit you in the neck."

Here are Aaron's batting numbers against Williams; I can understand why Williams didn't like him.

.333/.396/.521, 16 hits, 2 HR, 10 RBI, 4 BB, 4 K, 1 HBP in 48 AB (53 PA)

Yogi Berra played his entire career with the Yankees, but he is the only person to lead the Yankees and Mets to the World Series as a manager.

Not entirely correct. Yogi's last year as a player with the Yankees was 1963.
In 1964, he was their manager, and lost in 7 games to the Cardinals in W.S.
Then he signed as a free agent with the Mets in 1965, and played in 4 games,
going 2-for-9 with 3 Ks.

Correct answer is # 5, None of the above.
All played for BOTH teams, albeit some a very little stint.

No, it is Cecil Fielder(which Old Sweater answered correctly) but Part II was to figure out how many games and at bats.

No, it is Cecil Fielder(which Old Sweater answered correctly) but Part II was to figure out how many games and at bats.Cecil Fielder stole a base in his 1097th game. I'm saying Orosco played in more games (but less at bats) then Fielder did.

When you say "longest" do you mean time?, games? or at bats?

I owned the roll-on glue dispenser, used for doctoring the ball, that Yogi accidentally used for deodorant, gluing his arms down. Who am I?

Nelson Potter of the Browns in 1944....i'd guess that he was tossed by Bill Klem

Correct. Now, here's a harder one. Many may know by simply looking it up that Bumpus Jones threw a no-hitter without a contract and never duplicated his success. His story was much exaggerated, though, probably by Fred Lieb or Bill Stern. Whoever it was painted a picture of a total amateur who had never had pro experience before. Well, Bumpus not only had pro experience, but also had thrown a no-hitter in the Minors. For who, and in what league?

Ahem.....exactly WHICH "Bumpus" Jones are we talking about here?
Charles Leander Jones who pitched with Cincinnati in 1892 and both
Cincinnati and the NY Giants in 1893, or:
Elijah Albert Jones who pitched for Detroit in 1907 and 1909?
BOTH had the nickname of BUMPUS.

Charles Leander Jones...the one who pitched without a contract for Charles Comiskey. BTW...looking at this Bumpus' SABR Bio won't help you. I'm not sure why, but they don't mention the no-no that he threw in the Minors.

Okay, okay...Bumpus threw a no-hitter while with the Bi-State League with the Joliet club.

I think Orlando Cabrera was the last batter Cone faced, but could be wrong.
