When we were looking for a CF to play until Pie came up, why didn't we decide to pursue Bernie Williams. He's close to retirement, so he wont be blocking Pie from coming up in a year or so and he still had a pretty good average. I don't believe his glove is too bad either. And to top it off, he's a switch hitter. That seems like it would make amore sense than Floyd.

I don't want Bernie Williams here. He seems like a good guy, but he's way over the hill.

Well, you do point out some good points, but Williams is getting too old and he is a liability to get injured. Also, I think I heard somewhere that he didn't want to play anywhere but New York.

For at least three years Williams has been a poor defensive outfielder. He has very little range and can't throw very well. He can't hit LHers very well anymore either. And, of course, until this year he really wasn't available.

I just talked about this the other day... I do not know where some people say he is a good fielder... because really he isnt that good... even at his prime I think he lacked something on the field.

Now with that said, I do not think he would think about coming to the cubs, I suspect he might retire... he has alot to look forward to after his playing days... he really has the whole music thing going on... if you have never heard his stuff... I suggest trying to get your hands on some of it.
