Is there any other player in MLB history who has had more hits as a catcher than Ivan Rodriguez?

I think Ted Simmon has or had the record for most hits as a catcher. I don't know if Rodriguez has passed him.

Fisk had 2 more hits total that Rodriguez, but he also probably has more hits from while he was not performing as a catcher than Rodriguez does just based on seeing how much more Fisk was a non-catcher.

.

Yes, I think you are right. Simmons has 2472 hits, while Pudge has 2354.

Those are just career totals, not specifically catcher totals.

I didnt even think about it since I thought Simmons had always played catcher. Looking at it again, Pudge has probably already passed him.

Pudge has surpassed in Johnny Bench in almost every single offensive category, except homers and RBIs.

Pudge would be a HOFer, IMO, if he hungup his cleats today. The only question would be where he would place in history. Specifically, would he rate ahead of, or behind, his exact contemporary, Mike Piazza?

i believe that pudges defense puts him over piazza by a slim margin.. pudge is also a career .300 batter and has nice power statistics for a catcher as well.. he obviously falls behind piazza in offensive stats but pudges defense more than makes up for it..

does anyone here think he had a little help from steriods? I believe Canseco named him, but I'd rather not just take Popeye's. If he did, how does that effect his ranking among cathers and his HOF chances (right now I'd say he's a lock, but say he tested positive)
