I was quoted in this article from today's NY TIMES sports page--I thought the guy who wrote it did a terrific job. They have to save this small piece of history...

Hey, congrats! :clapping

And I must say that that's quite an informative article. I learned a lot about things, both past and present. :)

I pass that wall on my way to work every day. When I tried to get tickets to that tied All Star game in Milwaukee, I mailed postcards from the mailbox on 3rd Ave, and in front of Ebbets Field, for luck (I didn't get picked).

New York does a really lousy job of honoring its past. I think the wall needs to stay up, and a plaque dedicated.

BTW, the Battle of Brooklyn (AKA Long Island) was fought on and near this spot in August 1776 by a "little-known" General named Washington. I grew up nearby in Flatbush, yet this was one of the best-kept secrets in history.

I didn't learn of that battle, and the fact that the Redcoats marched through my neighborhood, until I was 40. I imagine a lot more Brooklyn kids would be interested in American History if they had any idea where they lived.
