As i read in this article (http://www.dfw.com/mld/dfw/sports/16651695.htm), Teixeira become a FA after the 2008 season.
After this season, Delgado is 36 years old. So what about going for Teixeira for our 1st Base? I like this guy a lot, and heŽll be 28 when the 2009 season starts. The only problem maybe is Boras :crazy

Michel Abreu would be a heck of a lot cheaper and is already putting up insane numbers at a Minor League level...Mike Carp will be putting those numbers out in the future, too. We don't need Mark Teixeira.

well ... teixeira has proven that he can hit major league pitching.
remember that good minor league numbers donŽt prove anything. i only say the name a. hernandez

Hernandez doesn't prove anything. He hit .249 in his second AAA season. Also keep in mind that he'd played most of his career with St. Lucie until 2005, and only half a season with Binghamton and Norfolk, each, in '05. He went from playing for years in Class A (Advanced) to half a season in AA and half a season in AAA. He cooled off in 2006 after the league caught up to him. But Abreu and Carp are both advancing steadily and at a normal pace. Carp has so far played in Rookie League ball, A, and A (Advanced). Abreu is also a bit of a special case considering his past in Cuba (before you say Jorge Toca, remember that he was rushed and played mostly in AAA...Abreu is a poor parallel due to his playing in A (Advanced) and AA).

True, but I was assuming if the you-know-what hit the fan and Delgado fell apart due to injury or whatnot this year, well, Abreu would be the logical call-up.
